I have never used Diesel Anti-Gel additives. I have always gotten by using K-1 Kerosene mixed with my Diesel. Problem here, is that K-1 cost me $32 for 2 gallons at Canadian Tire, thus making it cost prohibitive. I have purchased some Kleen-Flo Diesel Anti-Gel additive. I have used many Kleen-Flow products throughout the years and find them to be very high quality. (Only sold in Canada I think). I have attached photo's of the product, and the instructions.

(Yes, I read instructions)..Supposedly, this one L bottle treats 500L of Diesel. For my 3901's 11 gallon tank, my calculations say approximately 2ml/cc of product to a full tank. Please correct me if I am wrong on this. 2cc's doesnt sound like much, and went to the Pharmacy to grab a couple syringes to measure that quantity.

One of the complaints I hear from the dealer is that people tend to overdose their diesel to the point of it not even smelling like diesel anymore, and the equipment starts to run poorly. I have 9 driveways contracted right now, so I really can't afford to have any issues. It has been, and appears that the trend will continue, very very cold. Haven't hit -20f yet, but real close.

Can someone tell me if my math is correct. I am originally from the States and this whole Metric system is gibberish to me. Any advise would be appreciated.

beaterboss - - I think your math is off.

If I convert your 11 gallon tank to liters, it's about 42 liters. (11/.264 =41.7)

So, I think you need a lot more than 2ml of product.....

If 500l/1000ml...500l/42l=11.9..1000/11.9= 84ml...?.?.? So, nearly a 10th of the liter of product.

I think...gosh, this stuff use to come easy for me... :eek::eek:

Somebody better double-check my double-checking....:eek::rolleyes:

You got it right, 0.084 liters (84 cc) is correct.

1 x
----- = ----
500 42 (liters in 11 gallons)

Simplifying to:

500x = 1 X 42

42
X= ----- = 0.084
500

It's only been about 50 years since my last algebra class, but I use it all the time to solve problems like this.

**** For some reason the editor won't let me insert the correct number of spaces to get the numerator and denominator in the correct places. Not sure why. ****

Thank you thank you thank you. It seemed a little light with what I came up with. The wheels fell off when I tried to convert Metric to standard system (ml, l, cc to qts, pints and oz). So 82 ml/cc it will be. That makes much more sense. Even at $24 a bottle, it is still infinitely cheaper than using the K-1 at the prices over here. Thanks guys, I never took any advanced math in school...LOL!! I was too busy under the hood of a car. (and chasing girls too, that is WAY more time consuming than math). I should have asked my Daughter about this, she is a whiz at this Algebra stuff.

I don't understand the antigel/algaecide questions that come up on the forums. I have run Diesel engine equipment for 35yrs.ish. Winter comes and you put in winter fuel and carryon. Maybe our fuel blends are different here in western Canada. My storage tank and large tractors sit with summer fuel from Oct. til May and work fine. I guess maybe I'm just lucky?

You bet. Still WAY cheaper than K-1, and you like that company's products. Only adds about $2/tankful, so not bad at all in my book.

I'm glad dlsmith verified, because I wasn't sure, either!:eek:

Did that stuff 40 years ago and my attention was on other things too, like working hard so I had $$ to chase girls with! :p

Maybe lucky...
I said on another thread that diesel was gelling at the pump where I get mine couple winters ago.
Place sells a ton, and is headquarters for the company. We did have a real cold spell.

Unless it's imperial gallons which would give you 50 litres and much easier maths. 100ml or 1/10th of the bottle

Guessing a Japanese tractor assembled in the US wouldn’t use Imperial, but what do I know...
I was happy I wasn’t way off.
I really did have an equation like dlsmith’s in my head...will admit I had .26 conversion, but looked up the .264...
We all got to the same spot, so that’s great! I didn’t want beaterboss to take my word for it!!
