Trouble using grease gun

Skeets, It's my guess many of those who responded didn't understand the problem because they themselves were not aware of the adjustment possibilities. So the wise comments were generated, but we'll never really know 'cause they wouldn't admit it!!
can u get enough access to rethread the zerk back in to your tractor, then tighten with a wrench, then pull the gun free. D2cat post also will help you understand how the gun secures the fitting.
Is this true for ALL grease gun "nozzles" ?
Only asking because last year I checked mine and concluded they were not adjustable. BUT I did not take a wrench and channel locks to see if the knurled part would turn. It seemed solid with a finger test...so I ASSUMED it was one piece and not adjustable.
Should I try again? With tools this time?

I have had some over the years that were really tight when new, (power driven at assembly?) but a wrench & pliers should pop them loose. I think I have one at the cabin that does not have a hex, so two pliers are the ticket.
I usually try to find that sweet spot where they will go on & off easily, but still hold tight enough to not pop off or leak grease when you pump the handle. (or pull the trigger)

Yup, Put a vise grip on the knurl and give a good twist. While mine are finger tight but they came from the factory very tight and looked like one piece.

I recently had a new battery powered grease gun that I would swear was one piece. I had the same trouble as the original poster, so finally put the end that was designed for a wrench in the bench vice and used a vice grip on the knurled end. I had to tighten it so tight I though I was going to smash it. I tried it several times and it would not turn. I had actually checked before the last tightening episode to make sure I had another end to put on.

Okay, Hands up for those that went out to the shop or "know somebody" that went out to the shop and had a grease gun aha moment.

I will admit I knew you can adjust the tightness. I will also admit I have only known it for about two months when I stumbled across a video on it. (Wasn’t searching for it).
For those who can’t get it to free up try applying some grease. That’s a joke. It is a grease gun after all.

Definite hand up here. Been using grease guns regularly 45 years and found out about the adjustable tip a couple months ago. Previous to that I just jammed it on the zerk, held it on tight, and ripped it off when done with no thought whatsoever. Honestly, that’s still what I do but now I know about adjustability if I ever need it.
