Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster.
BX2370. My transmission case developed a leak from the seal, so I drained it, opened it up to replace the seal. While removing the cover, #040 ball bearing was firmly set in the cover, and as a result gearshaft #20 has been pulled out slightly. It doesn't come out the full way, but it hangs down just a little bit. Somewhere down the line the gears seem to not want to mesh. According to this thread , the answer is to switch to mid PTO to get the gears to mesh. Mine seems to be stuck on rear PTO only, or the neutral in between rear and dual. I don't recall having ever had it on anything but rear.
When the PTO selector is in neutral both the mid PTO and gear shaft spin freely. With the rear PTO selected I can turn the mid freely and the rear moves about a gear tooth distance.
I can't start the tractor, and I can't put the transmission cover back on until the gearshaft is inserted deeper.
I've tried:
- Jiggling the PTO selector every which way
-Turning the mid PTO while shifting the PTO selector
-Hand turning the rear PTO - this doesn't want to work as the PTO gear and the gear shaft are difficult to keep together while turning the PTO, and the gearshaft is loose. This feels like my best option but I'm concerned with bending or damaging components
-Crying
-Wiggling the gear shaft every which way
-Engaging the PTO in combination with any/all of the above
Wondering if anyone can suggest why my PTO selector won't move to dual or mid only?
Any ideas on how to manually turn the rear PTO with the gearshaft not properly meshed?
Wondering if anyone has any other solutions?
Pulling my hair out as this was a pretty straightforward task to begin with.
Thank you,
