Never heard of that one. I got a few that I use made by Ruger, Springfield, beretta, and a few others. What I like is they cover multiple size trailer balls and you don’t need to take them off before you hook up or remember to put it back on when you are done. Come in a range of sizes depending on how far away the trailer is parked, paired with some wireless alarms in the house and outside they work pretty good

I use ‘Proven’…one of nice things is you can have keyed the same and even extend that to your hitch pin. When I was researching they all have you tube videos and their competitors all showed how easily their competitors could be defeated. I don’t think there is a perfect failsafe method if someone is detetermined…I am not sure it does more than keep honest people honest.

I have that lock for my car hauler. It is a beast and about the only way to defeat it is to remove the complete coupler from the tongue of the trailer. Not likely that a crook would be likely to have on hand.

The lock weighs about 20 pounds and is extremely well made just to give an example the cover for the key weights about 1/2 pound is threaded and sealed with an O ring. The keys are extremely unique with a shape of 1/2 of a circle rather than being flat.

The lock itself appears to be cast steel and has a number of ribs for strength as well as to make it harder to cut apart.

The downside is it's not cheap but compared to the risk of leaving the trailer at the track it's worth the piece of mind knowing that the crooks will look for an easier target than mine.

yes it's that easy .'won' a trailer doing that after guy showed me his new 'thief proof' coupler lock.

I have a Fort Knox for the ball couplers on my trailers. Also have a lock on the ball keeper, also have a padlock on the chains, also have a flip on the jack and have a padlock on it so that it can’t flip up out of the way. I had a duelly pickup back up to one of my trailers in the middle of the night to try to take it. At the time I just had a cheap Reese lock on it but it kept him from taking it. You can break the Reese hitch off in about 15 seconds. That made me a little bit paranoid. The goal is to make it so difficult for them to take that they just leave.

The pro's have gone to useing a wrecker truck to steal trailers around here. They can take it somewhere less obvious they are takeing a theft proof lock off.
Lots of locks it's just simply drilling the lock cylinder. When we had our mini warehouse business I bought a lock drilling kit from a selfstorage supply that between it & my big bolt cutters had no problems when I had to foreclose.

I do not know if you watch any YouTube but this guys channel is interesting and fun, for me at least. In this video the trailer lock he reviews is made by Altor, and looks to be like the Icon in your link.

Yes that's the lock. But one thing to add the lock key slot faces the ground so picking it would not be as easy as on a table I would expect.

To answer earlier posts about using a pinel hitch or a wrecker. Or chaining the tires nothing will stop a determined crook you can only slow them down and push them to another trailer that is not as well protected...

I agree! And I would not expect a typical trailer thief would have the skills or special lockpicking tool to pic this lock. I do enjoy his reviews and obvious lock picking skills.

It gives the appearance of a good deterrent. Most hitch locks can be defeated in 30 seconds with a carbide uni-bit. I've had to do a few when guys lose the keys or lock them inside their trailer. Looks are important though. If it looks difficult, a thief will move on or break into it to steal what they can. Unless they really want the whole thing. In which case theyll chain the tongue and roll out. That happens all too often at Bike Week.

As mentioned, no matter what kind of tongue lock you use, the trailer can simply be towed away (chained to a hitch). I use a decent coupler lock, and most importantly I chain the trailer wheels together with a very robust lock and chain. Anything can be defeated eventually, but this set up will take time and tools.

I splurged and went with the X5 Legion ! It's much more heavy duty.

I also lock the chains together around the frame so they just can't use them to steal it.
I put this through the tires on one side... Cable Lock
If someone wants it bad enough...they'll take it.

Many trailers have bolted on couplers so not hard to defeat. $350 or so for one of those ICON locks seems very expensive so I'd probably go with something along the lines of the ones shown by @dirtydeed since all of these locks are only intended to hinder the undetermined and opportunistic thief.

I keep one on the trailer tongue storage box as well. I easily have over $1,000 worth of chains, ez binders and ratchet binders on the trailer at all times. They get locked up for storage (I even lock them up when on the job at certain "city" locations). Last job site featured a "used" condom and I actually ran over a crack pipe with the truck while parking...
