Considering a longer trailer for use on the farm (12ft utility a little short for some things) so I'm looking at stepping up to something that would also haul my L3902 w/LA526 loader if needed. Would be a receiver hitch trailer. Would like a tilt bed and a winch. What length should I consider? Is a 16ft adequate? Thanks.
I work for a company that manufactures trailers, and we’ve sold a good number of trailers to Kubota owners. As you’d suspect, more is better. A 16 foot trailer leaves virtually zero room for error, tongue-weight adjustment, or extra gear. As others have mentioned, a trailer in the 18-20 foot length will most likely best serve your needs. When you load on a bucket on the front and a scoop on the back end to your tractor, you want something to handle that length. Combine this with tool boxes, jerry cans, and ground tools, you’ll use up the trailer space fast. Two other tips:
- Make sure you have secure fastening. Use either Grade 70 Transport chains and ratchet binder, or heavy duty 4 inch ratchet straps, to secure your tractor to the trailer.
- Do a five mile check. After you’ve transported your tractor for five miles, pull over and double check that all equipment on the trailer remains secure.
