To much oil in tractor?

finally got a brand new b2650 tractor! The other day before i used it i went out and checked the oil level and it is well over the second hole on the dipstick!

manual says it should be in the middle of the two holes on the dip stick.

Is this anything to worry about? I've only put 6 hours on it. Should i drain it and put the oil back in to the propper level?

Oil looks brand new as it should and yes i'm on level ground and the tractor has been sitting for days.

I also noticed the dealer did not put anything on the battery terminals what is best to put on them to stop corrosion? On my cars i use a spray. Is there anything i can put on the hydraulic connections to stop rust? One has already started to rust.

Who did you buy the tractor from, a dealer? It may be just that the person who prepped your tractor for delivery just overfilled the oil slightly. If the tractor is new and just delivered, I wouldn't worry about it.

If the tractor was old/used it could have a coolant leak (head gasket blown, block cracked, etc.) where coolant is getting into crank case. Since water is heavier than oil the oil level on the dip stick will rise but you won't see any indication of water (if engine has been running - water-oil mix will look like chocolate) but you could check this easy enough by cracking loose the oil drain plug (don't need to remove it. Just loosen enough to see if any water drips out).

Yes i bought it from a dealer. What about the battery and hydraulic connections?

You have any white lithium grease,fluid film,etc in a spray can? It will work on the connections,but can get messy if you want to handle them

Another option is the spray on terminal coating. I like this best as it dries completely.

Usually when a battery post corrodes it is because the seal between the post and the battery case is leaking (twisting a stuck battery terminal to remove it can break this seal) so the best way to protect against this is to spray or coat the base of the terminal posts where they come out of the battery case. Those "wet felt" battery terminal washers that go under the terminals do a good job too.

As for the oil level, in addition to what's been said above, just monitor it, no big deal to be a little over. If it keeps going up, you might have a fuel or hyd leak into the motor... No sweat there either, WARRANTY...

On the Too Much Oil issue, Go run the tractor (at what ever Max RPM you're allowed for now) if the Oil level it too high to the point its being picked up by the Crankshaft Counter weights it will look Frothy (Bubbly) right after you shut it down. Run it/Shut it down/Check it.. Not Frothy means alls good. Frothy means you need to take some out. if it's frothy doesn't mean it hurt anything, its just hard on the Oil and it will fail sooner..

Serviced a customer's ford ranger, drained oil ,spun off old filter and installed new one. Poured in 4 litres oil and fired it up. Waited for oil pressure and shut down. Topped off with 1/2 liter to bring it perfectly to the line. Dude comes back next morning saying i overfilled. Aparrently oil should be checked before starting engine. After sitting overnight.

So every customer that gets gas has been doing it wrong for all these years?
Run it, and check after shut down.
If it sits for 8 hours all the loose oil drains back to pan.
That is not considered operating range.

Hope this is the case. If not, hope its slightly over filled and not a sighn of a bigger problem.

I had this problem when I first got my L2250 back some years ago. It turns out the oil pan was "split" (around the front drive shaft) and actually had/has two separate drain plugs! Since I was only addressing one of 'em I simply wasn't draining enough of the old oil out prior to a refill. Well, didn't I feel like a horse's posterior! Not sure that's the case with yours, but I thought I'd throw this out there just in case.

I use LPS brand "3" rust inhibitor on my boat motor and it protects everything very good. It leaves a waxy type film. Might be the answer for your fittings.

I use those treated pads, green for (-) red for (+) then coat the posts and inside of terminals with that red battery goop in a tube using a small flux brush. Then connect and tighten terminals. Never get that nasty powdery stuff with this method.

Oil level pix: It looks only maybe a 0.5 quart over, but that's with everything drained down from the top-end of engine from sitting a long while. I'd say no worries. If you want to know what (IMO) the true op level is, run your engine for a little bit, shut off then check level. That's the correct operating level imo.

Spray: I use PB Blaster.

Just viewing this post and as a new owner of a l2250 I'm looking to do an oil change. Where are the oil drain plugs to drain the engine oil? I see the 2 plugs on the bottom of the oil pan what are the other ones you are talking about

This is a very old post so you may not get a reply from rut3556. What I think he said in his post was he only took out one of the two drain plugs on the split oil pan. That would leave at least a couple of old oil not drained. The two plugs for each side of the split pan are the only drain plugs.

Yup, those are the ones.
