27 years old now and just about to crack the 1K hours mark.

I wouldn't trade or sell that amazing tractor but would probably paint the green thing behind to match! :D

So a comment and some questions. First, that's really low hours for 27 years! My questions are as follows:

  1. Are you the original owner?
  2. What's the equivalent tractor today?
  3. What would you buy if you decide to "upgrade"?

That is some incredibly low hours. I'd like to know the story behind a tractor that gets around 37 hours a year.

I agree keep it, but it needs new paint ... for the green thing behind it. ;)

Oh.....I wouldn't feel right about that. I mean.....its a good 3 hour drive (one way) for you and given today's fuel costs and your time....I would want to pay you something for your trouble. Its the right thing to do. ;) (y)

How's that garden going?

Yeah....it would save me a lot of grief I suppose. :(

But as much as I hate to admit it here.....I have some 'green' stuff too.

We probably can't be friends now. Haha.........;)

But I don't take very good care of the green stuff.....if that helps.

Interestingly enough, that’s the same usage rate my L3830 has had the last 16 years. Now that I’m semi retired I am using it more. And the new (1 year old) B2601 is getting about that many hour a year (38), but it’s job is pretty much just finish mowing.

Your tractor looks great for a new tractor, let alone 27 years old.

A new tractor is like a new wife. You never know what grief the new one is going to give you a year later. I would keep what you have and enjoy it. I assume that it is paid for and why add debt to your life now that you are closer to being headed into your retirement years?
I upgraded from a BX22 to a BX23S a few years ago, and I wish that I kept the old BX22, because it was a better machine in many ways. The only reason to upgrade was the easier to put on and take off snow moving equipment, and the hard cab.

I must be doing something wrong.... I've almost got 1000 hrs on my 4yr, 11 1/2 month old BX23S with ZERO grass cutting involved.

Been retired for 6 yrs now. Tractor was fully paid for when bought....so never any debt on it. I wouldn't ever get rid of this one, but might purchase something between this size (compact tractor) and the JD.

I've really only used this one to get to certain areas on my property where a larger tractor won't fit (easily). But it is quite limited in what it will 'lift' with the FEL and I am entertaining the idea of getting a tractor in the 50 hp range and add a grapple.

So this post is partly serious (get a somewhat larger tractor and use this one a bit less) and partly in jest (since I haven't used it much per year to begin with). I have at times used it to do things it wasn't built for, but (so far) haven't broken anything on it.

Since I have more time to devote to the property (being retired) I find a need for something *midsize* to fill the gap between the Kubota Compact L2350DT and the larger JD. Something that would handle a grapple and have better lifting capability is sort of what I am thinking of.

Of course any new tractor (new or new to me) would be a Kubota....I am sold on them for sure.

Thats in amazing shape for sure!!!!!!

The reason they don't put pockets in coffins, is because you can't take it with you.

Keep that one and run to the dealer and get the new one!!!!!

I'd think your current equivalent would be the L2502, if I'm wrong someone will correct me. If you're looking for a hydrostatic, you want better ergonomics, or something akin to that then that's what I'd go with. Otherwise, is there any operational difference?
