I would like to change out the DPF filter on our M8560 (just shy of 3000 hrs). New Reman kit in route(from Kubota Exchange Program).
Other than eyeballing the DPF do any of you have any thoughts or advice on the removal of the DPF . I have looked around and not been able to find a removal sequence. Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Looks like the whole unit comes out and then is broken apart on the bench. New/Reman unit put in after cleaning of both halves. Should the sensors be replaced or just cleaned up?

I'd think the 'kit' will have how-to instructions included ??
Bandaids nearby would be a good idea....
Gloves of course...
Be real careful unplugging sensors....

I want to get it out so that I can give them the old one to be shipped right back. Core charge on this item is a hefty 650-700. Thus I would have no core charge if the exchange is at pickup.
Thanks for the heads up on the sensors . . .some pretty thin gauge wires running to the connecting plugs

yeah, nothing ruins your day worse than struggling with the connector,it finally pops off, hand hits very sharp metal, NO bandaids in sight, and oh ya, need to reconnect the busted wires on the connectorS......
sigh...

Kubota requires a New cleaned DPF at 3000 hours. Mine is showing symptoms(frequent regens that do not last very long 5-10 hours). Will start throwing codes at 3000 hrs. with 40 hours to go I figured we had better start the ball rolling. They are not designed to go much beyond 3000 hours.

How old is your tractor? The emissions warranty is longer than 3k hrs. I know in construction equipment the DPF is required to last 4500 hrs or 3 years. I would assume ag would be the same.

The expected cost. The cost of the DPF from Kubota for a refurbished/cleaned DPF is apx 800-900.
Labor expectations from my dealer is about 12 hours give or take.
The tractor is a 2013 Kubota M8560. Currently, the hours are 2970.
I wish I had a three- to five year warranty on the DPF.
By the way. A brand new DPF from Kubota lists at just under 3000.00 just for the part.
When I saw the price on the screen at the dealer my heart may have skipped a beat or two.

hmm 12hrs X $100 is $1200 PLUS taxes just for labour...

yeesh, sounds like DPF 'systems' are the same as 'SRS(airbags). Mandated by the FEDS, HUGE profits for the sellers.
I know IF one airbag goes off, the insurance company WILL 'right off' my truck even if that's the ONLY damage.

$100 CAD "labour" per hour is $79 USD equivalent ?
Actually, in today's highly inflated cost world, is a somewhat good hourly rate!

Nobody around here (' trade') works for less than $100/hr. Most auto shops are pushing $125, some $155 !!!
Plumber got $238/hr here last week.... 'parts not included'...

Is the 800-900 net after accounting for the core? Is your total cost is $800-900 with you providing the 12 hour of labor? Thanks

Last one I did was an M6-111. Wasn't too bad to get the DPF off. Lot of junk to get out of the way but that's the hard part.

Once replaced, you also have to perform a DPF time interval reset, a soot load reset, and a few other things--which you (as a non-dealer without the software) probably can't do.

Thanks for the input. Dealer will come out to the farm with his laptop and go through the step by step reset for the new DPF. But all good things for me to know. Thanks. Roy-FreddomFarm

Short answer yes it can be started.

Can it be used? Loaded question with a complicated answer. The short version is, yes it can be used-but the tractor won't know that the DPF is clean, and it'll try to regen more frequently than it should-which can lead to problems.

Thus, it's best to do it right and not have to fiddle with it later on.
