About 1.00/hr added to the TCO on the machine just for the DPF maintenance. Are the filter costs similar on the smaller 30-50hp models?

Short answer yes it can be started.

Can it be used? Loaded question with a complicated answer. The short version is, yes it can be used-but the tractor won't know that the DPF is clean, and it'll try to regen more frequently than it should-which can lead to problems.

Thus, it's best to do it right and not have to fiddle with it later on.
So true . . . I have started to use the tractor, because I had to in order to unload 50 rounds that showed up yesterday. The tractor runs great with the new DPF. But the computer still thinks the old DPF is in the unit. So of course it went into to regen just as I was halfway thru the unloading process. I increased the rpms and continued away. After 15 minutes regen stopped and I proceeded along. Put out hay for the Highlands and put the tractor in barn. I hope to see the dealer here with his laptop next week. I am a wee bit disappointed in them. I will curtail its use as much as I can.
I will let you know how I make out.
But it sounds and seems fine. Better than before I did the work.
