Thump Position

New BH70 backhoe with a BH1976 thumb will not use all 6 positions. When the thumb is raised completely it still partially blocks the last hole so the pin will not go in. With the thumb down one position, digging is reduced with the thumb resting on the soil. Apparently this thing is made wrong, any suggestions or comments? Here are some photos showing the last available hole and where it should be, also one photo showing a non-locking nut spinning completely free.
I'm finding too many issues such as the seat not rotating because the seat belts were installed wrong, that photo is also included.

Hello Lynnmor. Did you ever figure out what was causing this? I have the same issue and figured you could save me some time and effort figuring it out.

The dipper stick was manufactured wrong with the thumb mount about 3/4" out of position. The parts in the thumb kit were all wrong and even other new kits were junk.

The seatbelt bracket looks to be installed upside down.
A diagram from online parts may show proper orientation ??

Thanks for your reply. What did you do to resolve the issue?
First I took the brand new tractor back to the selling dealer and had them pull a new thumb kit which was a box of wrong parts. They kept the tractor for most of the summer and together with the Kubota support accomplished exactly nothing. I contacted the extremely useless customer service with absolutely no results, their main goal is to get you off the phone. Keep in mind that I accurately pointed out the real problem on day one but the nitwits thought they knew more than a tool & die maker. I went to the dealer and picked up the tractor and brought it home. I made a custom adjustment bar for the thumb so I could finish a project and bought the correct pin for which I never was reimbursed.

Next, I contacted another dealer (one of the most mentioned ones on here), and they accepted the repair job. After going around the tree a couple more times, that dealer was actually able to read a yardstick and ordered new parts. Since it would take some time to obtain the parts (which actually showed in stock in their inventory), I took the tractor home and waited for another appointment. Took the tractor over when called and then took it home a few days later. After using the backhoe for a few minutes I saw the dipperstick wobbling like it needed a Viagra. Yep, they neglected to install any of the six bushings. Next they sent out a mobile repairman to hammer in the bushings, but I said we will draw them in with a bolt and plates that I use in my business. He did agree it was better than beating them with a hammer and then opening the damaged holes with a grinder.

You are on your own out there, don't expect proper parts and repairs from the current crop of losers.

Yes. it was installed back asswards, the installation manual shows it correctly, I fixed it myself. You would think that someone that was given the job to install swivel hardware would actually see if the seat swivels when done. 🤪

Thanks for taking the time to detail your saga. I'm a mechanical engineer and could not make sense of the geometry that would not allow everything to align for other positions. I installed it myself and was questioning whether I had made a mistake as the instructions are terrible. I never dreamed that Kubota could be so screwed up. It makes sense now. I am going to make it the selling dealers problem. Wish me luck...

I installed it myself and was questioning whether I had made a mistake as the instructions are terrible. I never dreamed that Kubota could be so screwed up. It makes sense now. I didn't give you all of the fine details, it was much worse than that. Both dealers are having problems hiring qualified people, when I asked about wages offered I found that the pay was inline with McDonald's, maybe that might be a problem.

You need to tell your wife the only way to fix it is to replace that mechanical bar with a hydraulic cylinder and now you need to add remotes
