Thoughts and Feelings on using a Woods RB6 blade on my B8200

I read post #1 a couple of times and never saw anything about snow. A 6' rear blade that weighs 140# on the back of a B8200 will do a lot of work. Buy the blade and use it as you choose. It will not overload the tractor frame. If your tires spin or it won't drag as much material as you'd like, take less material !!!

I used a 5' blade on the back of a B6100 two wheel drive for years!

Very good point.... The woods manual list the blade at 251 lbs.

and yes, when I plowed for a living, I'd go out 2-3 times as it was a lot easier to 'push and place' the wet snow.

also, be SURE to push 'far,far away' cause once wet snow freezes it's going to stay THERE until mid Spring....

I watched this video. 2wheel drive, looks like a 6' blade in 8+" of snow. I'm hoping I do just a bit better .....

If my drivewaybas that flat and didn't have banks on either side I would be in good shape.
Below is an example of when I got a little overabitious the first year pushing the furrows over the edges. What you can't see is the large rocks under the tractor. It took me some time to dig out enough so I could get off the bank and back onto somewhat flat ground. I still couldn't get up the hill in the front lawn and ended up having to take the walkbehind snowblower and make a sort of path on the steepest section.
This was before I had the cast concrete weight made for the rear which works a lot better and lowers my center of gravity quite a bit

Ouch. Have done that with my side by side years ago getting to close to the edge.

You have nothing to be ashamed of ..... I did the same thing with a 78' F150 in a 4' deep slush covered skidder hole. My current driveway is 50' long and 20' wide. I bought the blade for a future house purchase. I wanted to get my tools before I retire. You are a better/bigger man then I for posting that photo.....glad it turned out ok.

You know Mr. Jay, my wife tells me Bangladesh can hear me say those "fill in the blank words" when things like that happen.

I am a glass half full kind of guy (not) I didn't mind the excersise but that was probably the most amount of manual snow removal labor I did that winter on my property

You should be fine with the 6 footer! If the snow is 2 foot of wet stuff clear it with the loader and then you can get down to the pave or gravel with the blade!

I picked up a Woods RB6 blade for a song and want to know your thoughts and feelings on using it with my B8200. I read one thread but will i be ok in the long run? Thanks....

It all depends on the material you are moving. In 30 years I have plowed lots of snow with a 6' blade on a B7200. Light dry snow is a breeze. Heavy wet snow is a struggle.

I would not cut it down I would adjust my usage to match conditions. If it's heavy and wet it piles up on the blade and fouls the rear wheels which becomes a problem of its own. I find that to be by far the biggest problem wnen pulling snow with a little tractor.

My technique is angle the blade and cut a narrower width. It won't pile up as bad and the draft load is also reduced. If the snow gets too deep plow in reverse. Or cut a center track with the loader and then use the angled blade to widen it.

Woops! Sorry I shouldnt have assumed you had a loader. Well if the blade causes your tires to spin then get some chains!

How much front weight should I then have without a FEL?

it's always a guess...
mine is 312#s

really, you add say 100-150,maybe 1/2 blade weight ?, see what happens
then 'dial in' just enough for the operation
