Yeah, I need to make a stand for it..........I placed it on the quick hitch with the forklift.

I didn't think the stand through all the way... I have most of my old crap propped up on cider blocks... can't see why that would not work just fine.

I've always had a trailer mover/log arm off the back. With this new orange rig I was gonna make one outa 4" sq tube when I had me an idear. Make it outa 4" sq solid. Gives me best of both worlds, a useful implement and close to 550 lbs for extra traction.

That's pretty freakin' awesome! I imagine you preheated that steel prior to welding, given the mass.

I make a lot of stuff out of steel so really appreciate this build.

I use MetalsDepot to get an idea of what steel would cost for a project and that 4"x4" square bar is around $285 per foot!!

Since you are working with solid material, do you do anything to get welds which involve the complete cross section of the steel pieces?
I am not a welder but have been watching this Australian fixing a big bulldozer blade and am amazed at the tricks he uses to do the repairs

I buy in volume and from metal distributors that don't charge an arm a leg like many of the online places. IIRC the 20' bar was around $900.00..........approximately 83¢/lb.

The local steel supplier is close in cost to MetalsDepot, and since I don't buy in bulk I use that as my point of reference. $0.83/lb is cheap for sure.

I try to buy most of the steel I use from places like Craigslist and a few local auctions, because I don't buy enough to get any kind of volume discount.

So what are all those discs for that you show in an earlier post?
