Trade my L3901 for Mahindra 1640 Difference is $5000
Kubota 3901 HST Difference is $9500
Find two more dealers to ck price, that dealer is sounding like a Harley dealer years ago. Your Mahindra dealer knows the Kubota is a solid deal.

Hate to ask stupid questions but don't HST models require constant high rpm throttle to keep the hydro working properly?
No the hydro works at idle just as well as full RPM's. My first 2 Kubota's were gear drive and my current is Hydro. I will not go back if I can avoid it. The amount of control with my Hydro is amazing and I can safely do things that were dangerous with my gear drive. Soooo nice!

I just traded a 2001 L3000dt and bought an l4701dt last September.
for me the decision to trade was based on 1) what the dealer I ended up going with offered me as a full package deal and 2) an aggressive work and weekend schedule that was going to limit my time to show and sell my tractor.
i shopped and worked deals on JD, Massey, a Kubota dealer 45 minute away and a Kubota dealer an hour and a half away.

Ended up going with the further away Kubota dealer. The tractor price with FEL and R1 tires loaded was 29,500 for. New 2021 model. L4701. They offered me $7,000 on my trade. So I ended up at $22,500. The next closest trade offer I had was $4,000. I paid 5500 for the l3000 in 2011 with 100 or so hours. No loader. It had 800 hours on it when I traded it. Could I have gotten more in this market selling on my own- maybe to probably. But I don’t think too much. Looking at online selling prices of my trade tractor It was a mixed bag. Some less some more. Given my specific timing needs I took the higher trade and a dealer that treated me very well. The JD was the next closest. I got really close on a
