Looking at the picture of his SnoCat, can I assume he didn't lower the HUGE friggin 'parking brake' in the front of the machine ?? Guy who taught me how to run a bulldozer said to ALWAYS lower the blade, when not on the machine.NO exceptions.

Still a guy doing normal guy things and trying to be self sufficient. Just like many of us would have done. It COULD have been any of us run over by our own machine.
Don't know about you, but I would never try to climb on to a rolling piece of equipment. I think he made a tragic mistake and is very lucky to be alive.

yeahhhh.... but.... it wasn`t.
Safety First, apparently wasn`t on his mind. Now he has a second chance to think about safety, first.
And I'm sure you have always followed safety protocto a T....
But then it wouldn't have been news.
It would if it was a Florida Man. 😉

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe he was already on the track and not the ground. None the less, I'm sure we have all made mistakes that could have ended up with the same result. You included.

We've all done things or made choices that could have gone bad or did go bad.
He didn't do something intentionally or recklessly wrong, wasn't drunk driving his snow cat, wasn't out playing on the freeway, he was helping clear a neighbors driveway.
More than likely only he knows exactly what happened.
Could have been as simple as getting out to open a gate or move something in the way.
One thing that did happen, is they Impounded the Snow cat because they said that it was a possibility that it malfunctioned.
I've had many a close call, while being careful and following the right procedures and had equipment go really haywire for no ordinary reason!

In my younger days calculated risk verse reward were a way of life both personally and professionally.
I have never seen a person patted on the back for saving a moving unmanned piece of equipment.
Edit: cleared morbid statement.
This man is very very lucky.

I have at an accident scene where the responding patrolman put his car into park, but it either jumped out of park or started to move back toward a crowd of people. A bystander jumped into the car and applied the brakes to stop the car. His quick actions stopped a chain of events that would have resulted in many injuries.
