You had to replace your spares because if you use your spares without replacing them you wouldn’t have a spare…..

Returning them is an admission of a mistake.
You are planning ahead for future needs. 😁
I have done that so many times. It's too easy to quickly order parts.

I have an opposite problem. Purchased a 10 pack of small G4 light bulbs last January and used one. Needed another this week and, for the life of me I can not find the other 9 bulbs. I know they are here, but have no clue where I put them when I need them.

I hate that. I waste more time looking for stuff that I know I have than I ever spend doing the job itself. I swear my wife hides stuff from me…………

I am not sure you are aware but that is an all too common form of domestic spousal abuse you are suffering from😉…it is done to hobble us (sort of like Kathy Bates did in Misery…but much much worse since it involves our tools and whatnot) and make us dependent on them. Only solutions I have found is 1. to add an extra machine(s) and tools in case one is ever hidden from us, and 2. don’t make the shop too open and inviting to the point a ne’er-do-well would consider coming in to see if anything they could use or relocate. (Why do my Milwaukee tools wind up in the sewing room…did the dog or cat put them there? )😆

I like drawers and cabinets to store things in because it looks so much neater than shelves where it looks sloppy and collects dust. But if you don’t open them from time to time you forget what you have. I am the absolute king of doing what you just did!

I sure hope that you got a good one...I think that we both have the same stove. I'm on my 3rd distribution fan. The last one was ordered as a fan pair (combustion and distribution fan). I'm not real thrilled with the results of the blower but now I have a new combustion fan on my shelf as well. I hope that I can remember its there when needed.

PS. took a half hour to find my damn belt this morning. Actually, my wife found it. I'm getting worried. :(

There is a solution to all of this. My shop/work area/tools are organized by me, however my wife finds it disgusting it's so UGLY. I do not suffer from any sort of OCD or variation of it. My area according to my wife looks like a tornado came through and nothing got out of the shop!! She parks her car in her spot and makes remarks about having a garage sale as she walks away.

I take no offense to the remarks, and realize some folks need things to be in order. But it sure keeps her out of my stuff. ;) ;)

Yes, think we both have an XXV.

I usually figure 5 or so years on distribution, less on combustion. I think I’m on third or fourth circuit board.

In 17 seasons my stove probably has had close to 100 tons through it. I’ve replaced most things multiple times.

Knocking on wood…..it’s generally pretty easy to work on.

It is very common for my wife to proudly state to me, Hey, look what I found….. My normal reply is, hey, put it back so I can find it.

This sounds eerily like what happens to me.

Just wait until you are putting your "brand new" Kimber 1911 away (that you just had to buy cause it looked so cool) and you find it's twin in the back of the safe.😉

This is me. And it is getting worse because the older I get the more "stuff" I accumulate so the more "stuff" I have to look through to find what I need!

What kills me is that thing was EXACTLY where it was supposed to be….

I probably looked right at it but didn’t use my “gift of literacy.”

It was in the back of the shelf so somewhat hidden, but it was RIGHT THERE! 🧐

N.Y,
At the current inflation rates, I just saved more then I paid if I need it in 20 years. That's how to justify a garage full of crap to my wife.
