Add in a couple of Q-tips to that toolbox. I use them to wipe grease off the shaft so I can see where the shear pin remnant remains. A flashlight or the light in your phone also helps.
This is a good suggestion.

Earlier this season, a person looking strikingly similar to me and wearing my underwear was dumb enough to forget about the 2 large rocks I use to hold the tarp/tractor cover and caught one in the blower, the size of a softball on cookies........sheared the impeller bolt and one auger bolt.

Impeller was easy as it is clearly visible and those pieces went flying. Finding the actual remnant of the auger bolt required me to channel my "wanna-be safe cracking skills".....putting a screwdriver in and feeling where the hole was.......a Q Tip to clear the grease so a bright light might help is a solid trick for the next time.

I’ve never seen a grate in the chute! I don’t understand why it would be there.

my Woodmaxx is lined. Their SB-series snow blowers utilize a high-density polyethylene chute liner to keep the snow moving and prevent snow from freezing on and plugging the discharge chute. This liner also provides a very slick surface for the snow to deflect off of, ultimately increasing the speed and distance at which snow is thrown out of the chute.

I’ve yet to replace a shear pin in 3 years of rough ground use, I’m sure the day will come, I should try to remember what I did with the spares.

Grates are put there to keep the stupid people from sticking a hand down there while running and getting it chopped off. Companies have been putting them on for 30 years or more. I don’t think it is a country or state specific item.
