This is a good suggestion.Add in a couple of Q-tips to that toolbox. I use them to wipe grease off the shaft so I can see where the shear pin remnant remains. A flashlight or the light in your phone also helps.
Earlier this season, a person looking strikingly similar to me and wearing my underwear was dumb enough to forget about the 2 large rocks I use to hold the tarp/tractor cover and caught one in the blower, the size of a softball on cookies........sheared the impeller bolt and one auger bolt.
Impeller was easy as it is clearly visible and those pieces went flying. Finding the actual remnant of the auger bolt required me to channel my "wanna-be safe cracking skills".....putting a screwdriver in and feeling where the hole was.......a Q Tip to clear the grease so a bright light might help is a solid trick for the next time.
