OK my wireless mouse has started being stupid! I roll the wheel and some times it goes up and down when I am going the other way. I down loaded the latest driver rom Dell or MSN or who ever but it still does it, Now before I take a hammer to it and have to go buy a new one, anybody have any ideas>

@skeets - - Did you try cleaning the bottom off?

Somewhere I probably have 5 of those darned things. I can send them to you. They might have some hammer marks on them and be in 10 pieces......

Just joking - - I've replaced them a bunch of times when they get wonky.

I'm not smart enough to fix them, which shouldn't surprise anyone here....

I've had my MS wireless for quite a while. Once in a while it screws up and usually it boils down to a weak battery of dirty light. I clean that out with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol and it has always worked for me. If all fails, they make a challenging air rifle target.

Replace the batts. Clean it up.

If not working, buy a new one.

I get a new mouse about every other year. I keep my hardwired mouse on standby.

I am far from being a "puter expert", but.....

I have about 5 of these wireless ones that I keep in various locations, because with out a mouse, my computer is worthless.

Trying to use that damn "track pad" is a lesson in futility for me.

They have increased from the original 8 bucks that they used, to 16 bucks now. (but what hasn't increased 100% in the last 6 years?........especially since according to .Gov, the inflation rate is only 3%. )

Yep, yer hardware is full of fuzzware. And dirt and people oil and cookie crumbs. Take it apart, clean the wheel, blow out the whole inside and outside. Reassemble.

Did all that and it was full of ,,,,,stuff,,, but it still jumps around when I use the wheel,,, oh well time for a new one I guess

Take the ball out and clean it with window cleaner(No, brake clean does NOT work!) Then lightly blow out the cavity using shop air. Also your mouse will last longer if you clean your hands before using.
