I ran the snow blower this morning, only an inch or so of snow, but I did jump out and take the obligatory tread pattern photo. :ROFLMAO: This was after backing up and pulling forward so not as clean a pattern as it could be.

I am not sure what can be felt by the operator in terms of traction, but in those picks it is clear that there is some compression of the snow which would create some amount of additional friction (traction). 👍 So I think you improved it…I would also offer based on your slip and slide story, if not wanting to cork your boots, Katoolas are a simple solution (easy on/off) traction aid.

I finished the front tires yesterday afternoon and then moved a bunch of snow that had drifted all over the driveways.

Here are the front tires. I might do a little more to the rear tires when I get back from a work trip in a week or so.

Edges give traction in snow. Snow also packs in the grooves giving snow to snow grip like a snow ball. My grooves are a little deeper and pick up gravel to give a few “studs”.

I'm getting ready to return the groover to @pokey1416 but he's very kindly offered to let another member here use it and either pass it on or return it. If you're interested in using the groover on your tractor tires then PM me and @pokey1416 with your name and address and I can send it along. This has to be a first come, first served situation to keep it fair. (y)

Well, it's time for someone to tell me "step away from the groover!" :ROFLMAO: Yesterday I decided to do a little more grooving and now I'm done with the R4 tires on the MX. If no one wants to use I'll send it back to @pokey1416 with some Montana honey and a few Andrew Jacksons!

@pokey1416 has been incredibly generous and I'll be sending him something even if the groover heads in a different direction. By the way, I'm still using the same blade I started with and I've made a lot of cuts.

Definitely like the grooved R4 over the R14. Need a tuff tire on TLBs. My traction improvement was on lawn, pasture, and mud on our hillside farm. Not the plow pulling traction of R1s. Like the R4 tuffness, 10ply on M59 front with extra tall lugs, and flotation on fields, orchards, and woods.
R1 tires wore quickly with heavy FEL work. I have used chainsaw carving wheel on the side grinder. Mud boggers use chainsaws to block their tires.

Ha! Ha! Yes ... and yes it is! :D

It was snowing on and off most of yesterday and many of the lakes up here are still frozen over, but some folks are reeling in big fish on Flathead Lake. I need to head to the bottom end of the lake and pick up the boat. I have everything I need to do a complete 300 hour engine service. The engine has 248 hours on it, and the storage place supposedly did a complete service prior to storing for the winter, but I want to start out knowing exactly what's been done and the parts/oils used.

Dang Montanans bragging about the guppies they pull up!🥴

Come on everyone knows Idaho has the big ones! :ROFLMAO:

Note: That fishing for Idaho’s white sturgeon is allowed only on a catch-and-release basis, and they may not be removed from the water while handling, thus they are measured for length and not weight!

What the heck! That thing is HUGE! I'm not much of a fisherman but I can appreciate such a big fish. I'm happy hiking to a mountain lake, catching rainbow trout and releasing them.
