Should I shim this Axle Slop

Hi as the title says, should I shim this Axle slop? I just bought this B7100 and this slop seems to much to me but I am not sure? Should the Axle be forward or backward?

Shiming worn axle hubs is at very best a temorary solution.

If the hub clamps cannot be properly tightened, the only proper solution is replacement hubs.

Yes, shim it if you'll like. My B7100 had a little slop.

Shim it 50/50, front and back. Unless a mount is bent, or you can see excessive wear on the front or back... if so, shim it there.

Driveshaft length shouldn't be an issue, but check it if you think it is.

Appreciate your reply, it’s a little hard to see, the play is in the main axle mount pivot.

It's the axle to frame pivot, not the hubs.

That’s what I saw too.

I’d shim it. It certainly won’t get better on its own.

Fixing that is incredibly easy.
No shims required.
Tighten the nut.
Takes the slop right out of it!

The hubs may be sloppy = but the pivot pin is worse!

Misunderstood.

Assumed you were speaking of rear axle hubs, which is a common problem on such tractors of similar age.

Fixing that is incredibly easy.
No shims required.
Tighten the nut.
Takes the slop right out of it!

Bingo. just make sure if you are using a gear wrench to tighten the nut and the closed end falls out of the wrench you don't spend hours looking for the part of the tractor that you just broke, when the crack you heard was the wrench end separating from the body of the wremch . Ask me how I know lol
That was a scary night and actually took me days before I discovered the wrench was missing a large round peice of metal. Imagine my relief when I found what actually broke wasn't a part of the tractor front end

The nut was loose. I tightened it and that took care of the slop.
