So far the B7100 glow plug indicator has not been mentioned (seems to be a rather frequent problem).

Absolutely, it's very hard to see in the daylight, but if you put your hand over it, it should emit a glow

They say thousands of dollars are spent every day on glow plugs,batteries,pumps,harnesses, injectors and such when the only reason tractor doesn't start is burnt out indicator bulb.

There's lots of snorting and shooting up these days but huffing is out of style so maybe he thought his tractor doesn't fit in.

Well, there was a dogpile about the starting fluid. Depending on his definition of "small squirt" he may not have hurt the engine. He didn't say if it continued to run after the squirt. He said it was blowing black smoke while trying to start. Weird, that's why I asked. The most common glow plug symptom is white smoke while trying to start.

Considering his definition of start as "crank over" I wouldn't place bets on his definitions.
