Always wondered if the 'group' that doesn't sharpen their mower blades ever tried to cut facial hair with a dull straight razor ?
Thank goodness I don’t have sweet gum saplings growing out of my face, the stems of which I prefer to shatter rather than cut cleanly as I don’t care to encourage their regrowth. 🤣

I do sharpen my finish mower blades, but I don’t mow small trees with my finish mower.

Question: Does anyone buy new rotary mower blades and then 'dull' them before installing (so they will 'shred' brush better). ;)

I've never....and do mean NEVER seen saplings 'grow back' from what I've cut with a rotary mower. Not from the 'cut' portion.

Occasionally, you'll see new 'suckers' pop up from the 'root source' but not the stalk/base itself and a blade sharpened to factory profile takes down the brush decidedly better than a dull one.

If you want to splinter what you are trying to 'mow' then I submit a 'mulcher' would be a better implement.

But as discussed in previous posts.....just do what servers you best.
