How does a land pride 2060 compare to a Rhino 160? Is slip clutch the best? How about a Rhino 260 compared to Land pride 2060. Thanks for advice. I will be mowing some brushy acres,

I don't have anything to offer on the 2 brands you mentioned but I will say the slip clutch is the way to go no matter what brand you buy.
Thanks for the response. Maybe I shouldn't have ask about brands, just what is everyone using behind their L3800 and how they like it>
Remember, I have no real world use with either brand so what I'm going to say is just from looking at the specs.
I believe the Land Pride would be the better of the 2. The blade tip speed is about 2000 fpm faster which will give you a much better cut quality. Not only that but the LP cutter has a 2" cutting capacity and the Rhino is just 1 1/2". That would be important since you said you plan to use it in the bush. You would probably be happy with either one but IMHO the LP cutter is the one to go with.
I would suggest getting the slip clutch and at least the front chain guard. Since you plan on going thru heavy brush might even consider the laminated tail wheel with cast hub. Spend a few extra $$$ now and get it set up like you want it. As long as you take care or it you'll never need to buy another cutter that size.

I use a Land Pride 1860 and it has worked great. I use it a lot on 2" and bigger trees and it keeps on going. Mine has the slip-clutch and a 5 year warranty on the gearbox.

I have the same setup as Bluegill on my L3200, runs great. Haven't sheared the bolt yet but have about 3 spares (the whopping $2 each from the dealer!). I've also been very harsh on the RC1260.
I thought I had the clutch model at first but found I had the shear pin model, which doesn't bother me at all. The clutch, according to the manual needs to be adjusted at least seasonally, or if you don't use it for a month, more often! So, I'm kind of glad I don't have the clutch model.

This procedure, "according to the manual needs to be adjusted at least seasonally", is overkill for anyone who uses a mower much at all and keeps in undercover. Kind of like check the air in you automobile tires and oil in engine every time you fill up with gas.
My mowers stay outside, only room in the shed for the tractors. I'd rather not
have the clutch on mine...

Well, if you don't do the maintenance seasonally and it freezes up, it's worse than a shear bolt as it will take out the gearbox. Yes, I thought it was overly harsh too but can you risk the gearbox and Landpride asking "did you do the maintenance and check the clutch each time before you used it?".
I guess if you did it often it would become second nature, it's just a procedural pain, but the peace of mind is probably worth it.
My beef with the LandPride design is their built in debris catch point that makes it go off balance when plugged up with gunk and I have to clean it out every so often.
I had a 10' Bush Hog (brand) mower. I bought it used. Probably 12-15 years old when I got it. I adjusted the slip clutch for a 60HP tractor. Used it maybe 1 hour. I have an 8' mower also and prefer to use it.
The 10' mower set for 7-8 years outside with a piece of tin (3'x10') wired over the top to cover the gear boxes. I had more neighbors/friends use it and I had to go pick it up every time to get it back to my property. I finally traded it for a 14' elec over hyd. dump gooseneck.
The point of all this mumbo jumbo is none of the other guys adjusted anything on that mower and they used 85-125 HP tractors and I never had troubles with it. Slip clutches are pretty forgiving, and yet do their job.

L3800 with a Woods PRD 60 Finishing Mower. The L3800 would definitely pull a wider mower but, I chose to 5' model because the tractor is 5' wide and I didn't want the wife hanging the mower up on the sides.
