ROPS too tall

You could just make a piece to replace the top part of the ROPS. Set the original aside and reattach it when you sell the tractor.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'd do it and then if need be buy a new top part if that can be purchased separately .

Same problem here. I labeled a box ‘ROPS’ and set it on the garage floor when I put them up. Seems like a good reminder.

Good idea but I would need a reminder to remind me to put the ROPS box out there...and a reminder of where the heck I put the ROPS box...

My B2601 smashed the garage door header as well the first time I used it. If I leave mine folded partially down it fits fine. I leave it that way. Cutting and welding it will lessen its effectiveness and devalue the tractor. I advise against it. Maybe the guy that you sell it to gets hurt on it 10 years from now due maybe or maybe not to your modification. It wouldn't be hard to envision some lawyer attempting to bankrupt you. Risk/reward. I like to ask myself "Whats the worst that can happen? "

Possibly a bill of sale that states tractor being sold "as is"? As always, the horror stories abound with theoretical possibilities and little supporting evidence.

To the OP, raise your door header or build a more suitable storage building...either way it's going to cost you, might as well spend the money on your own terms.

I’m cheap so I would either just make a reminder label and put it on my tractor dash, or have a sign made that hangs down from garage door when open that says “check your ROPS”

I made my own top section,made from similar steel though I consider it a 'sun shade - light bar' unit. Highly unlikely I actually need ROPS,don't even have seatbelt on tractor anymore.

I go under and around too many trees to leave the thing up, too. I'd probably hit a tree limb and cause it to rear up the front of the tractor or knock the limb off and have it land on my body or head.

On my first tractor, I bashed one of the light assemblies with a tree limb. $56. After that I moved the ROPS lights all inside the ROPS on that tractor and now the next two. No more bashed lights.

I wrote a post which I subsequently decided was not helpful…so I removed the text. Since these forums do not allow one to BEGIN a reply and then abandon it…. one must post SOMETHING… so a “period” was used.

My ROPS are too tall to drive in the garage, so what I do, is always, always, always, back the tractor in.
That way, at least I am looking backwards and there is a CHANCE I'll notice the ROPS are up !
(if I drove it in, nose first, I'd have to remember they're up....at least this way, I am looking backwards)

This morning, before snowblowing, I added paper "signs" that hang off the inside of my garage door, that remind me to fold down the ROPS. With the garage door up, they hang down, nearly at eye level as my garage door is not as tall as most.

They aren't huge, so there's no guarantee, but at least there's always the CHANCE I'll see them.

A law suit over a ROPS would probably make a good comedy skit.

A few years back I was in a law suit over an eager volunteer getting injured while rolling a manure spreader off of a trailer. During deposition it became obvious the attorney was not familiar with a manure spreader. As I explained in detail what his client did and the circumstances he had to keep asking me questions so he could understand how it worked, why it was used, what the components of the implement did, etc. Quite amusing.
