Can't you find plasti-dip in black? Then you can try and see. If you don't like it remove it.

I have seen that stuff D2 I wonder how hard it is to take off?

When I was at the dealership buying this machine it was exactly what I needed for 1 acre of grass and a 10 car driveway to keep clear of the Canadian winter snow and many leaf shedding trees ,all new high-quality material and a strong diesel engine with all-wheel-drive at probably twice the price of other brands. This was the machine I wanted but when I looked around the dealership at all the other tractors with their bright orange wheels I said to the salesman what's with the aftermarket generic looking-wheels, he said I could not get them in orange. So I bought it anyway and decided after a couple months of looking at them wheels that they needed to be changed so I figured I would try black and if I didn't like it then I would paint them orange. I just went to Home Depot got a Can of trem clad primer and give it one good coat touching up any missed spots after a few hours let it dry overnight, did the same thing with the trem clad glossy black paint and then give it another coat the next day on the third day I used the trem clad clearcoat and they came out very well actually to my surprise. It's been on there for a little over a year and it looks as good as the day I put on it easy to clean etc.I might have bought two spray cans of the black I can't remember but the whole thing cost less than $30

I had to really lighten up this photo to see the wheels properly, also didn't paint the hardware.
Thanks for the share! I feel pretty confident following your steps that I may be able to do this myself. I'm guessing without looking you did the inside as well. That wouldn't look right otherwise... ;)

I don't know why I wouldn't of thought into clear coat on top. Most likely gives it a good coat of protection. I'm on the fence about undertaking this job... Might cross that bridge after getting the paint looking stellar! :)

I did both sides of the front wheels but not the rear wheels you can't see the inside of the rears unless you have the back cover off anyway but if I ever have a reason to pull the rear wheels off I will paint them too. The clearcoat just helps prevent scratches and damage to the paint.

I appreciate it! I'm not trying to build a brand new tractor... I'm just trying to make it my own. A little cleaning here.... A new part there. Atleast I've got something to work with. It's a great running machine. Went through it with new maintenance items like... plugs, filter, fluids, except the tranny. That is my next project.

It's fun and I'm sure we all like to do a little work on the tractor! :)

Great job looks new. [emoji106] as far as the bumper goes I'll put a few pictures of mine. I was worried about the hood and steering, so I got a 30" piece of 2x2 angle iron, drilled a couple of holes and bolted it on.

WoW! That things looks sweet! Why didn't I ever think of that ???

Now all I have to do is track down some angle iron and paint it with the whole other can I have of Kubota Orange. I can't thank you enough for the idea!!!

It's far less expensive to go your route and I have no guarantee if the OEM bumper for the T2080A will fit my T2080. My only thinking is that may be a little wide for my needs and taste, But the look and function of the iron will be spot on I think!

Only difference will be I plan on making mine to be 24-26" long. Now onto where I would find a piece of iron.....

I got mine out of the scrap bin at work hit it with the wire wheel and orange paint. Sticks out just far enough not to bump hood and wide enough nothing can get in-between the tire and steering. I have a lot of obstacles trees bushes etc. it's hard to watch all four corners at the same time LOL

Well got me a 2X2 piece of angle iron from a local Metal Works and it's actually 31" long. I don't think that will make that big of a difference. Just finished brushing it off and hitting it with the bench grinder/wire wheel. Down to bare metal and ready for the Self Etching Primer and following up with paint. Gonna put about 3 coats on it for layers of build up.... That way I shouldn't have to touch it for a while!

Pics to follow.... Wish me luck! :)

You shouldn't have to go that extreme Bare metal and etching , just get any rust off and smooth it out paint is cheap.

That's true! I was just doing it with product I already have. Once I got it smoothed I coated it once with some Self Etching Primer and I still had 1 1/2 cans of the Kubota Orange II I picked up from the local dealer without anything in the near future to paint on this thing so I figured I would put about 3 coats.... no biggie. I just did the top and bottom last night and I'm going to do the inside of the bend tonight. Should be installing tomorrow and posting pics. I want my to come out just like yours! I even painted the hardware black as well. :D

Ok well just don't make it look better than mine lol. Btw I like that little twist on the exhaust do you know if that is stock parts or fabbed up? I added some lights on the back of mine this fall thought maybe you like to see them.

Beleive you me... You need not worry about mine turning out better than yours! You've already got me beat with a GR series.... I'm only in the T series

Thanks for sharing your pic of the lights!!!!!! Talk about fancy! I may decide to install some of the lowers on mine. I don't care for the orange/amber middle light. Although have you thought about making a video of them in action so I could see the pattern they produce? If it's not too much trouble.

Ok without further adue. What do you get when you cross this.......

With this............

IMG_1444.jpg

The end result... I think it came out pretty good myself. 2X2 1/8 think angle iron is pretty stout IMO. With it bolted good and tight I can't see it bending :D Yours was the model and still looks better!

Part 2 to follow.... I wonder where this goes?

Sorry forgot to answer your question about the twist on the exhaust. That's actually stock for this model. And I think everyone in this series. It's actually called the Tail Pipe which bolts to the frame and muffler cover. I kinda diverts the exhaust from the front tire I think. Not sure what the technical purpose is

I took that off and painted it with some 2000 deg paint which gives it a flat finish and definitely made it look better. Kinda in rough shape before hand.

The bumper looks great! It gives it that don't mess with me look LOL.I'm just dying to see it with the new decals.
The reason I was asking about the exhaust is because mine sticks out the front about half an inch past the mounting bracket and I plan to build a little carrier for the front and I know it's going to be in the way so I may have to move it and it puts soot on the back of my snowblower that is hard to clean.

The reason for all the lights on the back is because I use it in the winter with the snowblower and I'm up near the road quite a bit so I added the taillights and built a little bracket for the flashing amber light which runs on a battery and is a magnetic mount but it wouldn't stay on the back of the tractor because there wasn't enough room.
I put the two little white LED lights so I could see if the salt was coming out of my spreader when salting the driveway and it gets dark here around 430 in the afternoon in the wintertime and I'm afraid to back over the culvert into the ditch [emoji15].
I'll get a the video out to you next week when I have more time (I'll have to wash and wax it first [emoji12]) on how all the lights work, today is my day off and I had to do a complete rear brake job on the wife's car rotors pads and callipers. [emoji848]

That's cool!

Ouch! That'll take up your whole day...

Thanks for the vid! Whenever you have time that would be cool to see! Forget the washing and waxing.... I've been putting some pics up even though it's a little dirty. I'll take some more pics tomorrow now that I've got the decals on. It dresses it up nicely. I even got the decal kit that covers all the older ones on the dash and foot area for the brake and parking lock. Throttle, turn key, light switch, and cruise control. I'll post a pic of the hour meter I installed as well. Regardless I don't know how many were put on it when I got it.... I just like to keep up with for service purposes. :)
