Why I ask is because this is the second set this summer that are failing and getting noisy. I bought NTN from local parts supplier (of course removed the rubber seals before installing) the new ones I put in were quite for 20 hrs but now have become noisy. Yes I do grease them. I do believe the oem where KOYO . Looks like I'll have to spend close to triple the cost for kubota ones. This is why I'm asking .

I would think those are ordinary deep groove ball bearings. Koyo is readily available from sources other than Kubota. What size are the bearings- e.g 6305, 6405. etc? Why pay more for sealed bearings? I am not sure exactly what deck you have but a quick check suggests Kubota wants about $12 for RCK60 spindle bearings.

Two sets in one season is crazy - something more than bearing quality at work there. You mowing grass or rocks and sticks?

Thanks for the replies . Took it apart this morning and low and behold the discharge side is noisy only. Took it apart and the seal on the bottom is toast found wire wrapped up so I'm assuming dirt dust grass etc has gotten inside the lower bearing causing it to fail. Just one bearing sure makes the whole deck sound noisy. Will pick up new parts tomorro and go from there . Again thanks for replies .

If your deck's like mine, then one side of the bearing is sealed while the other side is open. The sealed side of the bearings face away from the center of the spindle. This keeps the crud out of the bearing, while alowing grease to flow through the zerk fitting to the bearings.

All these decks use the same ball bearing to support the spindles.
It's a stock bearing, a "6205".

Thinking about putting some Timkens on the shelf for next time...

Who knows where they were made...

6205 is a very common size medium duty ball bearing. I buy the Koyo 2RS variant by the dozen from MRO Supply. They drop ship direct (and free) from Koyo America warehouse in Memphis. Current price is $14 each.

Koyo is a brand name of JTEKT who also purchased the Torrington brand name and needle bearing business from Timken in 2009. JTEKT rebranded and markets those products as Koyo bearings. Still made by JTEKT in the old Timken/Torrington manufacturing facilities in GA and SC.

JTEKT is in the process of rebranding all of their bearings using the JTEKT brand name. Supposedly the Koyo name will disappear once the old stock and packaging is used up.
