Rats!

So, the saga continues, but in another state. I'm back home in Wisconsin, and for the first time ever in 3 years ownership of our LX2610 Cab, mice have moved into the cab. And engine bay. I was gone from home about 6 weeks.

So, my tractor, AKA the mouse condo, got a vacuum and Lysol cleaning yesterday. 1 large nest removed by the battery under the hood. No chewed wires as it looks.

Operated the tractor today, and a mouse was in it. It ran thru the 4wd lever gap and escaped.

So, I always have had Cab Clear or Grandpa Gus's rodent repellent in the cab. But that's not working anymore, apparently.

I was thinking of removing the doors of the cab this winter to make it not so condo like. Your thoughts?

I won't be using the tractor this winter. Tractor is stored where in doesn't get snowed on.

I cover my BX (even though it's in the garage) and had a mouse move into the rear end and set up camp; it was only a matter of time before the wires and seat were going to become tooth targets. In addition to the existing traps, bait stations, and glue boards around the garage I put peanut-butter smelling glue boards held down by rocks so they wouldn't be drug away on the tractor floorboards and that solved the little gray problem.

Yes Sir. I was thinking sticky traps for sure. Weighted down somehow so they don't move. Rocks is cheap and easy.

"Just One Bite II"

I trailer my own garbage, about once a month, to the local transfer station. So rats were a problem for a couple of years. They even tunnel under your building foundations and can cause failure. I tried every kind of trap with all kinds of bait. Even got the little buggers on trail cam eating the bait in traps I set out.

I read where the adult rats will take bait to the nest and feed it to the young ones. If they die the adults will not eat that bait. Not sure if that's true but they say rats are pretty smart.

Then I tried "Just One Bite ". Looks like a 5 stick block of compressed corn. It takes about a week to kill a rat. They take it back to the nest and all get to munch on it. Put it out until they stopped taking it and in about three weeks - NO RATS! Amazing stuff! Won't use anything else now. Also worked on a couple red squirrels
that nested in the garage.

I have some "barely used" snap-traps for sale if anyone is interested. LOL.
