Pulled a Dumb One

Public Service Announcement......Safety, Safety, Safety.....
Decided it was time to sharpen the blades on the finish mower. I have a spare set so it was more of a swap with sharp for dull. Took all the normal precautions, jack stands under mower and gloves. Finished and removed my gloves then the 19mm socket rolled back under the mower. I crawled back under to grab it and hit my elbow on the ground causing my arm to pivot and you guessed it ran my middle finger right into the sharp blades, at least the bone stopped the damage . Well a $25 copay and 6 stitches later at the local urgent care it a reminder that it is easy to get hurt guys. I will now be flipping everyone off for the next 10 days with this shiny aluminum splint on my finger. Be careful when working on these pieces of machinery.

Glad it was just a few stitches - and that finger will heal up just fine. And you are correct on being smarter and not so impulsive.

Now what I want to know is this ...........

What did the wife say? You get any sympathy or like some wives would say - deserves you right!

OMG! - 6 stiches on a finger must be a good size cut, ouch! As 85hokie says we all have similar stories. I just hope it's not on the hand that holds the TP. LOL

Since "Scars are the tattoos of Warriors", I hope it leaves a "big ass scar" for you.

The last time I had surgery I asked the surgeon to sew me up so that it would leave a cool scar.......apparently that surgeon did not take requests,... I can barely see it now.

Glad all is going to be okay (after 7-10 days with sutures).

We’ve all been there. In my adult years I always took the sutures out myself. More experience at it than I care to admit

Smashed my thumb with a 4# dead blow hammer, and posted photographic evidence of same here on OTT.

I had an umbilical -hernia repaired…and with my stomach completely covered in bandages… when the Doc checked-in on me a few hours after recovery…thinking I was being “clever”….. I asked him “will I still look good in a Speedo?” ….…. he answered:

”You’ll look as good as you ever did!”.

I had a similar shop incident cutting my middle finger on some sharp steel. Turns out that it cut a tendon. The ER sewed me up, then I went for surgery the next day. I had an even larger splint and flipped people off for the next month.
