Only Back wheels spin on 4WD kubota?

Figured it out, turns out im an idiot and there's a 4WD lever. Why would 2wd even be an option on a tractor, what's the purpose?

As said, you shouldn't be in 4WD all the time. Certainly not on dry pavement, or making sharp turns on dry ground. But then again if you have a loader and you're going downhill with weight on the loader, you should be in 4WD. It's all very situational; I'm in and out of 4WD a lot, but generally speaking I only use it when I have to or when necessary for safety.

Interesting maybe. There was a John Deere tractor that was produced probably 30 years ago that had a hydraulic motor in each front wheel, it was known as a 3 wheel drive Deere.

Perhaps the original poster needs more weight on the back, as well as the 4 wheel drive engaged.

UMMMM, your L1501, what did you do to it?
Did you bolt a V2403 Turbo in it?
Because the last time I checked a L1501 was 15HP not 49HP.

Well north Idaho wolfman, I got a b2710 I have used like a 72 hp tractor lol I get dyslexic some times and bite off a 72 hp job with a 27 hp tractor oh the Joy's of not saying no when I should lmao. Live and learn...

I think the 1, 2, 3, 4WD has been covered pretty well. One more thing about getting stuck.

If you get stuck and 4WD (or whatever you want to call engaging the front diff) and rear locker don’t get you moving: if you have the loader or back hoe on, before you bury it to the frame, use the loader and/or back hoe to push/pull it out.

BTDT several times. Working in swampy mess, I don’t go without the loader. And yes, some areas I have to go are swampy mess 24/7/365 even if it hasn’t rained in two months, so “wait until it dries up” isn’t always an option.

I guess if you live where it is flat or are mostly on asphalt, staying in 2WD might work fine. Otherwise, 4WD which is really 2 wheel drive is fine. But then in that 2 WD case, why buy a 4WD tractor?

I think that Kubota are inconsistent with their model numbering. Usually, the first 2 numbers after the L or M etc refer to an approximation of the HP (rounded up of course, but then they would, wouldn't they). With the models in the range where mine sits, it's the 2nd. and 3rd. numbers which indicates the power.

The L1 range was produced between 2018 and 2021. These models have been superseded by the L2 range.
Mine doesn't have a DPF, thank goodness, but the L2501 has plus other refinements. I'm quite happy with mine, particularly as I got it at a good discount as an end of line model.

When the weather dries and warms up and I start using it, I'll take some photographs which will show some of the additions that I have added, all either clamped or bolted on using existing holes.

With 2wd, you only have 2 wheel brakes. Going downhill, you'll then lose all brakes because the rear wheels will just skid. Can then turn sideways easily and turn over.

ALWAYS run in 4wd unless on pavement.

If only one wheel spins, hit the pedal in front of the seat that locks the differential.

And if it is an L2501, someone's feed you a line about the first 2 numbers not being the HP.
And even with the change to the L3301, L3901 to L3302, L3902, they are still keeping the L2501.
The reason the L2501 does not have emissions equipment on it is because it's below 25HP.

No my friend, you're talking American. My L1501 DW is an European model. Kubota are inconsistent with nomentcular. The L2501 over here is an updated version of my L1501

Just like my truck, I only use 4wd when I need it.

I taught my kids to use 2wd to get stuck, then 4wd to get unstuck. My dad was more of a 4wd if snow is even in the forecast.

Your L1501 DW does not match anything we have here!
It's a much bigger Engine than the L2501

I would say the different model lines are because of emissions laws???
It's really going to confuse the living snot out of a lot of people down the line!

I will say this, I was spot on with my guess at which engine you had in it!

Keep it out of 4WD on pavement. I sold my L2350 to a friend and emphasized this to him and his wife. Next day, his wife drove the tractor down the street a block to fill up with diesel at a service station. She left it in 4WD and turned a sharp corner and over went the tractor. Luckily she was not hurt. But their new-to-them tractor needed some work.

None really, because anything over 25HP has to have emission equipment.
But the closest HP and Equipped wise it would be a L4760 at 49HP
