Any disadvantages to using off road diesel in my new Kubota tractor. The station that sells turns over their tanks frequently. The Kubota tractor dealership is across the street from the station that sells it.

Nope, run Off-road if you can way cheaper than On-road. No difference, my Snowmobile Club runs Off-road in both our Case 195 Puma Tractor/ Groomers both are Tier 3 emission's machines and cost over $195K each. Zero issue other than gelling over night if not plugged in.
No. The price difference in my location is minimal and not worth the extra distance to drive. If the price difference where you are is substantial then get it.
By law, it is the same product minus the red dye.
In NH it runs .30-.40 less a gallon. On my 275 gal drum it matters (about 100.00). I have it delivered, so getting it isn't an issue. Most local oil guys will deliver off-road. My supplier only does it twice a week Mon. and Thur.

My off road station is actually my closest Diesel source. Since I regularly store ~30 gallons in 5 gallon cans at the farm, each can gets a squirt (1 teaspoon) of anti-gel.
Run the off-road diesel as it is ultra-low sulfur(same as on-road diesel). Even know of a few farm vehicles that run it with no issues(don't get caught as the fine is $10000 and you have to pay taxes on all off-road diesel purchased within the last five years). Off-road just means the government does not get as much money for the fuel that is purchased.

This is on a licensed road truck with farm tags.
I run it all the time and is perfectly legal in a tractor.
The gelling issue is not a factor of the fuel being off road. Off road and the taxed fuel is the same, with the same additives.
Sorry the DEF Fluid would freeze up on them. Shouldn't be an issue anymore, we finally built a Heated barn to store them
I only run off road diesel in my tractors, typically $0.35-$0.40 cheaper per gallon in Michigan, my local gas station has it and I just use my 55 gal transfer tank.
DEF fluid does freeze(12 degrees F),that is why the DEF system has a electrical heaters(in GM 3 heaters((tank, lines, and injector)and delays system from operating until the heaters have time to work. This is why all DEF system parts are made of plastic to allow for expansion.

Also in reply found this on a few VW's and volvo's that are not farm vehicles just cheap owners, also have worked on a few waste vegetable oil burners(smells like french fries when running).

My son had a beater Beetle diesel that he ran on red fuel, used hyd oil, used trans fluid, and veg oil... never missed a beat until the trans failed.
Just curious as to why you running anti gel down here? I honestly didn’t even know they sold it down here

Off road (dyed) and road-diesel are the exact same product aside from the dye.
DEF is a separate system and is not involved in the “off road/on road” difference discussion.
Anti-Gel is also not involved. The two fuels are IDENTICAL with off-road not being as heavily taxed and having dye... and therefore costing less.
If anyone is running off-road in a road-vehicle... they deserve to get caught and get the book thrown at them.

Sorry, yes I got my additive mixed up. I absolutely intended to say: Biocide No Diesel anti-gel here.
Now yes I use red dyed off road diesel in both tractors as well as the sawmill. Because I do store ~30 gallons of fuel in 5 gallon cans at the farm that may or may not get used for a year, they get a squirt (1 teaspoon) of Biocide. I try to rotate my cans, but sometime stuff happens.
was just checking! I run off road diesel here too in my tractor. Have a station a couple miles down the road that sells it and supplies the logging companies around me. Never had an issue even without additives, but I only keep 10 gallons tops on hand. Tractor holds about 10 gallons but I usually only put one of the 2 five gallon jugs in at a time since it dont burn a whole lot
