Nothing quite like throwing rocks at a bees nest.
My dad has a Ford New Holland 3930, 1997 with 1183 hours on it. 4WD, loader, excellent condition.
He has kicked the idea around before about getting a tractor with a cab, but just talked.
Well, the talk has stopped. We are going to look at a JD 5065E with cab and loader. It is last years model, without DPF, DEF, any of that junk.
I am still a huge Kubota fan, but I appreciate other makes, too. This is a first class tractor. And, while I know that Kubota makes comparable models, our local JD dealership is bigger and more capable than the local Kubota dealership. The JD shop works on everything, all the way up to heavy equipment. Beverage tractor is simply a much smaller shop. That has driven his decision to go green.
We go tomorrow to drive it around the lot, and work out the details. They will need to add a loader to it, so I don't know how long before it will be delivered.
It will need telescoping stabilizers- it comes with turnbuckles.

He's really excited about it- as pumped as I've ever seen him. He's worked hard, he deserves it. He is 76 now, and still very active. But, the cold in the winter, and heat in the summer, takes more of a toll on him. So, a heated and cooled cab is where it's at.
I do want to reiterate- he has no issue with Kubota. He loves my B7100. It's dealer support that drove the decision.

Where's Eric? I've braced myself for his needling... all in good fun, but I know it's coming...

I thought I felt a disturbance in the force! I haven't been on lately, busy working and something funny came over me yesterday. And YEP here's my answer...

First the son sells his trusty Dodge Cummins for a Ford gasser and now the father is selling his Ford tractor for a John Deere.

Me thinks there's something polluting the air or water on the mountain tops. Either that or the altitude fogs up the noggin and they aren't thinking clearly up the hillside.

Honestly I wish I had the means to buy your dads 3930 tractor. I know I'd be buying a very well taken care of tractor. 50hp is a bit too large for my needs. I'd have to upgrade everything both truck and trailer.

Eric, if OTT had a like button, I'd push it twice.;)
He signed this morning, Hokie. I know Kubota would have served him well, but this tractor will, too. Our ferrier, who is a close friend, is a manager at the JD dealership, so dad is pretty solid on dealing there.
Umm... it will be taking the place in the barn where I park my "Ford gasser". That's been relegated to the rickity car port... an Eric, for the record, that 310 hp/435 ftlbs of torque V10 with 6 speed and 4.30 gears is no slouch. It'll work, and it's a hoot to drive.
Here you go, just to rib you back and make you restless tonight...
It would do everything you need, and handle any expansion you might dream up...

Thats a big mammajamma for sure. But honestly over kill for anything I'd ever get into. I'd have to get bigger everything just to utilitize that tractor.

Congratulations on your dad's new tractor, being a "bit" long in the truth myself, you just can't beat a cab to allow us older folks to spend more time in the seat and continue to enjoy our tractoring. I do love our Kubotas, but like most brands and the JD will serve you many years.

I haven't seen him this excited in a long time. He's always had a tractor, but this will be the first new one.

That's great, I drove old stuff into my 60s when I got my first new one. We still have some made in the 50s, 60s and one in the 80s, but I can't use them anymore.

My dad bought his only new tractor in 1955 and used it till he died in 1993; loved that old thing, we still have it.

There is an old fire road that goes from our house up the ridge, to mom and dad's house. In the second photo, he is going to show mom his new toy.

That's a very nice tractor indeed, I chose an M Series Kubota, but like Deere and others, a neighbor just bought a BIG NH; looks great.

That cab will be nice in the rough weather for sure. Nice and shiny new tractor is a great feeling and I'm sure your dad deserves it.

I have a John Deere machine   but it is yellow or what ever color the heavy equipment is. Mine is an old JD450 track loader. I feel like a big kid on this crawler. It is a lot of fun. :)
