Hello everyone
Recently acquired my first Kubota, and first Desiel tractor. I'm no stranger to working on cars or gas tractors, but have no experience with Kubota or Desiel engines.
My tractor is an '86 B7200E, 2wd, 8 speed manual transmission. The tractor use to belong to my grandfather, and was well upkept. Hours are right around 1,400 and it hardly shows it.
It has a 60" mid mount mower deck, driven by a front PTO and engages with the handle mounted on the left side of the dash.
This tractor has never had a loader on it, and occasionally had a york rake on it.
I'm going through the whole thing, cleaning it and getting it ready to mow. Had to replace a couple belts and new blades, but nothing I'm not use to doing.
My biggest questions are the following:
1. What kind of fuel additive do you use? I typically use a stabilizer and fuel system cleaner in all my fuel I put in my gas mowers and snow-blowers.
2. What should I run the Kubota motor at (RPMs). I have a guage that looks like it has a PTO mark at 2,400. I assume this is where the PTO output matches the speed it should run at (this tractor also has the 2-speed PTO selector).
The tag on the tractor says it has a D950 3-cylinder, and says "max speed: 2,700 rpm".
My dad has had Kubotas for years, and he said to run it around the 2,500 mark. He did show me how to run this and about the glo plugs and all that.
Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated.
