Hello all. Have frequented this site for 6+ months before purchasing my new L4600D two weeks ago. Love the tractor. Went back to dealer this weekend to get rear remote installed and he was giving me the update from the dealer meeting last week. new 2014' in the spring will be fully Tier IV compliant, marketing materials are all about increased efficiency, HP, emissions, etc but say nothing about increase in price. Said I did great buying one of his last 4600's....price on next years 4701 will go up between $2,800-3,400. New engines also have muffle/regen system that has to be replaced at a cost of around $2,500. Said no dealers are trading their 3200/3800/4600 tractors as they are now a prime commodity both on price and for people who dont want a tractor with increasing government emission controls.

Again thanks to all for all the excellent buying advice and info on what the L4600 tractors can do. Will post more about the gear drive transmission vs HST but I know that is just like a Ford v Chevy argument. But I love the gear drive so far.

Here is a canadian Kubota link to specs on new tractors. I think the MX series are going to have the same changes. if you are thinking of buying one, I would find 2013 model now.

I'm kinda curious to know if the price tags on used tractors will now go up as well. My thoughts are more people might buy up the used iron like crazy so they don't have to buy into this Tier IV crap.

I just got a new Grand L3540 - one of the last to be built before the change to L60's. Just for these reason stated above. I got 5 hours on it . I will keep you posted as time goes on.

I picked up the L3540 so I did not have to pay the extra "freight" associated with the 60 model. I just hit 50 hours on my L3540. I have taken trees out that I am just shocked about with this thing. With the backhoe she has some serious strength to do work. The grappler is the best tool.

I hope your L3540 works out.

I agree 100%, now is the time to buy, if you are on the fence, do not wait.

I bought an L3800 about 2 months ago from Barlow's with that same objective to avoid the Tier 4 and its price tag. Barlow's stated their current inventory was most likely the end of Tier 3 tractors.

I hear 'ya,

I'm in line to buy one right now and feel like I'm getting the one of last of the 1997 Dodge/Cummins before they buggered it up unnecessarily.

Only the speed at which these things are going to change for the worse will be much faster than what the light diesel truck segment went through.

I did the same thing in buying my M7040 over the M7060 two months ago. Dealer said the 40 series was being discontinued. I didn't want any of the new emission BS. I actually got the 7040 cheaper than the 6060 sitting right next to it!!
