Don't know if these pics can help. This is when I had to pull the motor several years ago.
Only other thing that comes to mind is there are two large hoses running front to back with couplings right under my foot.

That helps. Are there two hoses connected to the block in picture #2? There should be.

One is pressure out to the loader and the other is power beyond return. There shoulbe also be a third hose going to the tank. I don't see it in the valve picture so someone probably used a loader valve that does not have power beyond. You will want to correct that when you install the new valve.

Yeah, according to the parts diagram there's a 2-port hydraulic block in the pump discharge line and the existing loader valve doesn't have a relief valve so . . .

Yeah - and no pressure relief is a much bigger issue than using tank for power beyond. With the new valve that's getting fixed as well.

You will need to purchase or more likely make some sort of tank return fitting. Being a machinist that should not be much of a concern.....

Looks like this "simple upgrade" project has gone down a rabbit hole it won't come out of.
It's gotten way to complicated, just gonna keep the money under the mattress.
Thanks to all.

What is so complicated about adding a tsnkbreturn hose to that plumbing? It needs to be done if for no other reason than your current setup could easily malfunction and destroy your tractors hydraulic pump.

What makes it complicated is this system has been working since the mid 70's just fine, but like me, it's old and wore out. Sounds like right now we're trying to reinvent the wheel.
I'm a big fan of plug and play.

No - I am telling you to follow Kubotas guidance on adding hydraulic implements to that machine. They make it crystal clear the FIRST valve added using that hydraulic blocjk must have an inlet pressure relief. Its your machine....

It really is a simple upgrade. I think your tractor will have a threaded port on top of the transmission to put a fitting into, then add one more hose to the system between the valve and the port.

I have a port on my L185 that is shown in this picture on the upper right with a 45 degree angle fitting in the port. The port size is BSPP G 3/8 and the other side on mine is JIC #6 male. I then used another 45 fitting JIC Female swivel to JIC male with a JIC female hose end just to make the hose route work better and I had the second fitting in hand. I remember both of the fittings being about $15 total. The BSPP port is similar to the SAE ports using an o-ring and nut to seal against the machined surface on the tractor.

Some tractors don’t have the port so a fitting is needed to get into the tractor and some people use the transmission fill port with a tee type fitting that is machined to fit the tractor port and have a fill port.

Strange - that outlet block looks vaguely familiar....

I'm not adding to, I'm replacing something that's been working since the mid 70's.

Its your tractor - I am sure you will do whatever you want. But the loader valve you're replacing is an ADDITION to the tractors hydraulic system and it was done incorrectly. Yes it has worked all these years but it's old and it could malfunction and stick closed tomorrow. If that happens it will take-out the hydraulic pump. You were going to replace it and when you learned you needed one more hose to fix the original botched plumbing you bailed.

You have been warned of the risk. If you want to roll the stubborn dice thats your call. Good luck.
