Gee, a store bought mini bike. I wish I had a grandpa like you !!! Motor off a lawn mower and a best friend that was an engine guru at a young age.
The boy is in for a lifetime of adventure.
I am available for adoption as the bike on order will cost more than my car.

He is having a blast on that thing.

The only "problem" is that he can't start it, so me or dad have to start it for him.

He got up about 1 1/2 hours before sun up and kept asking "Can I ride it yet?"

He slept very well though. I am presuming it has something to do with the "no suspension" thing. hahaha

Good job Grandpa! You’re just doing your job of spoiling him rotten. And he’ll learn a few life lessons like running out of gas and flat tires and such.

I'm thinking with the lack of any suspension, it will be a short lived adventure. 😲
Actually those little buggers are pretty bullet proof. My cousin had one second hand that was probably 20yrs old at the time. It's at his step dad's house and being flogged on by his grandkids still.

We got drunk at my highschool graduation party and started taking turns riding around on that thing 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Being 6' tall, and my feet on the pegs, it wasn't a pretty site 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣

Hahaha....I'm not sure who is learning the lessons here....He ran it out of gas twice and, so I had to carry the gas can out to him. LOL

It's comical to watch him though. He has this 'serious look' on his face when he's riding.

Comparatively speaking, I guess I kinda forgot how big of a machine it is to him.

Next, he heed leathers! How about a Hells Angels jacket? Start saving up because the next one is going to be a Harley.

I can't get any type of powered two wheeler for my grandson. And the reason is my daughter.

And that's because her husband had a pretty severe motorcycle wreck (vehicle pulled in front of him at the last second).

Anything with 4 wheels is fair game though 😁😁😁 So their are plans in the works 😎😎😎😎😎

had one for a long time, 5hp briggs

as I got older and better, I quit riding it and continued riding a YZ125, traded that for a YZ250. I can't ride a 250, just too much power for my skillset. Found a CR125 and traded the 250 for it. I worked at a dealer at the time. During my time there I came across a lot of stuff. One afternoon a guy dropped off a Yamaha DT50, street trail, 50cc liquid cooled. High strung little thing but super easy to ride. I got it going, called him and guy never showed up to pick it up. About a year later the boss said get that thing out of here, make it disappear. I paid the bill ($90 as I recall) and took ownership of it. Gave it to my brother. He rode that thing EVERYWHERE. Mud holes, dirt, through the forest, across town, highway, streets, didn't matter he rode it. I think he put something like 12,000 miles on it. Keep in mind, it made NO power until 8500 RPM and it was like turning a light switch on. From 8500 to 13,000 it ran ok. Top speed right around 60 turning 15,000 RPM. He wore it out, I did a top end overhaul on it and got it going again. Then he wore it out again and I let him start riding my CR125. Boy he liked that. I picked up a used 4 stroke and rode it, we rode together a lot. The whole time, from my age 13 through 19 the old mini bike just sat there. At 15 I bought an old Ford Maverick and fixed it up, eventually made a drag car out of it. Brother was still young so we looked at getting him a Junior dragster (half scale rail car). Those are powered by a 5hp briggs based engine. Some of them make 45hp or more. I was shopping for jr dragsters and a guy I knew had an engine but no chassis, dirt cheap. I bought the engine and figured I'd find a chassis. Never did, he got old enough to drive dad's Ford Fairmont drag car and that was that. I took the old dragster motor and bolted it to the minibike for giggles. It was a 3.5" bore 3.5" stroke, big cam, ran on methanol. Thing hit hard. WAYYYY too much power and speed for the minibike. Wheelies were easy but so was crashing. Yeah it was fun for a whole 5 minutes. Took it to the race track to try to run it down the drag strip and they wouldn't let me, so I half-heartedly hung a for sale sign on it in the pit area and some guy offered me a sizeable amount for it which I obviously and un--reluctantly accepted.

Since you’re feeling generous, can you buy me this? Only $150,000.

Interesting. My boss and I were discussing becoming a dealer for those just the other day. I asked him where he thought we were going to work on them at. "Hmm, I never thought of that". Field service rep required and I'm not "that guy". Given the cost of them I'd imagine the only customers would be some of the rich duck hunting guides and land owners that lease their fields out. If I'm right, there's no way they'd bring them back to the shop for repairs, and there's also no way I'll work out in a flooded rice field in the middle of winter to drain water ice out of the fuel system. BTDT, too old to do it now.
