Hi, I'm looking at getting a 2 spool valve with power beyond. I found this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B07SPBWGKB#Ask

100$cad is very cheap so I'm not sure why that could be. PrincessAuto will sell them for at least 300$. Any concerns?

Also, it is not clear if PB is available on this one. There are two customer comments that contradict each other. Is there a trick to knowing if pb Is available when just looking at the picture? Because for some reason, it seems no one likes to clearly say whether it is or not.

Mophorn is an importer of everything from socks to satellites. They buy from cheap suppliers and sell cheap unsupprted products online. They are not high on my list of suppliers.

That said that is a "P40" valve probably made in China as opposed to the Eastern European products. It has a power beyond port and requires a sleeve to make it functional. Mophorn knows nothing abut hydraulics and is terrible about providig specifications. You have to be a real Sherlock Holmes to decipher some of their descriptions. This for example is the specification for the port threads

PABTN:3/8 " Unthreaded sealed cylindrical pipe threads

Because I have used a lot of the P40 valves and understand their configuration I read that as:
  • P = pump pressure inlet port
  • AB - A and B work ports
  • T - tank port
  • N - high pressure carry over (aka power beyond) port
  • 3/8" Unthreaded sealed cylindrical pipe threads - Laughable. Their attempt at saying ALL ports are 3/8" BSPP G thread
If the ports are in fact all 3/8" G thread we have issues. The P, T, A, and B ports can be handled with simple adapters BUT the N port needs a power beyond sleeve. If Mophorn can't provide it you are not going to be able to use a PB sleeve for the European P40 valves because they are either SAE 10 or 1/2" G thread. And before you ask - no - you can't make one work with a 3/8" G thread adapter.

My advice - unless you want to take a big chance buy one of the more expensive versions of that valve from a more reputabe supplier that knows what they are selling and can provide a power beyond sleeve that matches their valve. That "same" valve from Summit is $150 USD and the 1/2" G thread power beyond sleeve is an additional $22.50 USD. If Princess wants $300 thay are way out of line price wise.

@TheOldHokie , you always suceed in providing top-notch information in these threads. Thanks a lot. I'll try to find a sleeve for that valve and check if maybe the ones at princess would work. You get free returns at amazon so I can try it out.

I did not see any P40 valves on Princess but maybe thats differrent in Canada.

Good luck!

Dan

PS> If you do buy that valve and the P, T, and N ports really are 3/8" G thread please let me know - thats a bizarre design for a 40 LPM vlave and something I have never seen in any catalog.

I orderes it. I'll let you know.

This is what I thought a p40 was: https://www.princessauto.com/en/bm40-2-spool-directional-control-valve/product/PA0008669723

They call them bm40. And this is the sleeve: https://www.princessauto.com/en/power-beyond-adapters/product/PA1000000789

Not a P40 design. Casting has no third outlet port. Presumably the side tank port is convertible to power beyond and the top port is used for tank.

P40 casting has three tank ports with rwo on the side. The N side port is convertible and you still have option of top. side, or both tank ports.

Correct. I have one of those bm40 that I bought at princess last year. The side ia where you put the PB sleeve and the T port is on top.

Any clue who makes them or where. Not particularly cheap.

Dan
No idea. But they used to be cheaper. I paid 120CAD for the 1spool version last year. It's now 200$. Everything went up very high at princess auto lately.

One of the major sources of the P40 valves is Badestnost Plc in Bulgaria.

Summit and Bailiy are the major USA distributors. For those of you in Canada here is one of the two Canadian distributors:

They seem to carry a very complete line of Badestnost products and sell them under their Master brand name. No online store and no pricing in the catalog

That was fast. I got it today. So it's a vevor, even though amazon said morphon. I guess it really doesn't matter.

The ports are all the same size. So I'll try to see if I can get a PB sleeve at local hydro shops around here.

That looks exactly like a P40 valve with a Vevor namplate. Are you sure ALL of the ports are the same size. For sure that plug is NOT 3/8" G thread. A 3/8" G thread plug would be .656 and that looks like 1/2" G thread at .825. Dollars to donuts that is a Chinese P40 with 1/2" G thread on P, N, and T and 3/8" G thread on A and B.

Edit - never mind - I was reading the caliper incorrectly - 3/8" G thread as described. I think you are out of luck unless Vevor has your sleeve.

The caliper shows 3/4 right? So I think this might be npt 3/4. I'll get something npt3/4 today and test it out.

Yeah, all ports are the same. The plug fits everywhere. I sent an email to vevor to see if they sell the sleeve. If not, then I'll just return the valve on the basis that this is clearly not what I ordered: wrong brand name and wrong port size

At PA no sale is final unless you are satisfied. Ask the mystery amazon vendor what their return policy is on their tail light warranty.

At PA everything goes on sale at some point, if you can wait you will get a better deal. PA also sells mystery chinese/indian crapware but PA stands behind their products even years later. I buy PA crapware for that reason.

yeah, I like PrincessAuto for sure. But this valve would need to get a 88% rebate to match that price I found on Amazon. That's why I'm trying to make it work. It might be too good to be true, but I have to try. I'd be ok with 2 spools, but they are 350$ at princess. Maybe it's time to check on aliexpress
