Hey Folks:

I left the tractor key on for three days and when I went to use the tractor, the battery was dead. I tried to start the tractor with a used car battery I had nearby but, it just wasn't strong enough to actually get it started.

The actual tractor battery is now all charged up and the wiring cleaned but....nothing....no dash lights, no anything. Where do I start? I have the dash apart but, don't know what might be going on inside the little black boxes.
It's 50 miles round trip to the dealer and even if I have to order a part I would like to know what I'm talking about. Any good wiring diagrams out there?

With that big a discharge, I would still suspect the battery.

Have it load tested next before anything else happens. Don't tear anything apart just yet.

Just because it holds a charge doesn't mean it can deliver the Amps to make things work.

Not familiar with the tractor, but believe most Kubotas are similar. Main power wire from (with inline fuse link) goes to starter, then a wire from the starter stud goes to fuse box/and ignition switch. I would take a voltmeter and check battery voltage across the two posts, then check for voltage at the starter stud where battery cable attaches to start. Its possible you may have blew the fuse link trying to jump it off.

Hey Guys:

FordTech was right....it was the fuseable link. I always wondered what the gadget taped to the main cable coming from the battery was .....and now I know....itt is a fuseable link. Examination showed that the metal strip inside the link was melted in two...thus preventing power from reaching vital parts. Really appreciate the help.

Hey Guys:

I saved myself a lot of anguish by listening to the two responses to my question. As I said.....it was the fuseable link BUT I didn't tear anything apart . I started to look at the battery first and that traced to the link.
What I'm trying to get across here is: 1) If it is an electrical problem.....make the sure the power source(battery) is good. 2)If it is a fuel problem....make sure there is diesel in the tank. Work your investigation from those two points.
