This thread kind of tickles me. It goes from BX being to fragile to feathers being ruffled over whether it's a tractor or a mower faster than a cow patty hits the trail. Reminds me of the good old days when "oil" was mentioned and the war began.

I personally think of them as a heavy duty mower but I use 200 hp tractors all the time. I'm not trying to knock a BX, it's just how I think of them. Now take someone who's biggest machine has been a 8 hp snapper and the BX is a beast. No reason to get upset either way. I mean I was told my M9000 was a city tractor, not a farm tractor. I guess a big time row crop farmer might think that due to the lighter weight but that's okay. It works great for me on my hay/cattle farm which is what I bought it for.

My point, can't really get upset just because we all don't see eye to eye. One person may see something that others miss. Over the years I have gained some great knowledge from the best group on the net. My opinion of course, but this is the best forum going and I'm proud to be a member. Have a good one. :D

Bulldog you are such a word monger,,lol,,, And you are of course right! Things like tractors have to be taken in context as to what they were designed for, kinda like comparing my truck to a rock crawler both 4x4 both have moters, but both for different things. My BX next to your 9000 would be a toy and nowhere capable of doing the things it can. I will say that for its size it does everything I need and more. plus many things it was not intended to do,, ya just gota think things through and know the weakness of you machine

OP have you considered getting a zero turn instead of the MMM. I wouldnt dream of using my 2650 with a MMM to mow, too darn slow. Granted I mow about 10 acres of hilly terrain. It would solve you're armor issue, and you could gain a heck of a lot of your time back.

I havent started taking mine into the woods yet, but I plan to. I made a road so I could gain access to the forest areas so I could do some loggin, and just making the road I had a lot of close calls with stones that could have smashed my Mid PTO. I need to look into something to protect my underbelly as soon as I get the time.

I think kubota should at least offer the option of a skid plate set instead of going third party and their inherent limitations.

"I think kubota should at least offer the option of a skid plate set instead of going third party and their inherent limitations. "

As much as this is a brilliant idea - it would be sending the message that "there is a problem - and if you the public want to fix it, it will cost you"

I think Kubota knows about the fan problem, has tried to bandaid it with the little "shield" that is there now.

I will say this - the under armor that is offered now is so cleverly designed, that taking it off and placing on is simply genius.

Maybe Kubota needs to REROUTE the fan, so that the fluid is cooled closer to the radiator fan, much like automatic transmission cooler is used. True - that would cost more - but the cost would solve that fan problem. Then again, that is not practical I am sure. OR better yet - if the $15 fan was placed in a situation where it could be replaced easily .........ok - what am I saying!:D:eek:

Have there been any good pics of the newest generation of the BX that is coming out (in June I think?)? Did they make any changes to the hydro line/HST fan locations or routing? I've seen the shiny side up pics and it looks really nice, but I haven't seen any pics of the bottom, I don't think.

Know what you mean. At times I felt like a cross between a sniper and a boxer.

Sometimes you where in the middle having to shuffle your feet, stick and move kind of deal. Other times just lay in the weeds, fire a shot and vanish into the darkness. Good fun was had by all :D

85Hokie,

That's about right. I seem to recall lots of opinions being thrown around. About like a good game of catch and then someone pitches in a horse turd. It turns to sh-t really quick and somebody says "I'm taking my ball and going home". Memories, gotta love em

My two bits. I received good advice from the folks on this board to get a skid plate for my new unit, and did so. BXpanded version. Great unit, easy on off and so on. But...

by the time I got it delivered to the great white north, paid with loonie dollars added taxes, duties shipping.. it wasn't cheap. It would be nice if Kubota had one as an optional add on you could get locally. Might not be a lot cheaper but I have to think it could be.
