1993ish 2182 with a 60' mowing deck.

I mowed the back yard and the side yard. In the morning started on the front yard and on my second pass the PTO belt broke.

Shut it down and ordered the new belt. Annual service, I pulled the deck removed the belt parts, sharpened the blades and cleaned the tractor top to bottom, got a new fuel filter. I started up and halfway to the garage it cut out. I had run out of fuel. Filled the tank and NO GO. WTH!?!? This tractor runs all the time, starts and goes to work.

I was able to restart but she won't keep running.

Went through the whole fuel system, tank to carb, new filter, pump working, fuel flowing to the carb, checked the spark, good to go.

I was able to get started and run for a good 5 minutes, it then stopped as though it ran out of gas again, but it hasn't.

I will pull the carb in the morning and clean and inspect it.

Could this be the solenoid?

What else? I do this service every season, (not the belt breaking) this has not happened.

For symptoms like yours, the first thing I like to test is loosening the fuel filler cap and try running it. If the fuel tank vent is clogged, it'll create a vacuum in the tank as fuel is used up which eventually prevents fuel from passing through.

Thanks for the input.

Already tried, no difference.

Pulled the plugs, they are not bad, the cylinders seem dry. I will replace the plugs today, just to have fresh.

I am thinking I need to pull and clean the carb. It has a replaced solenoid. I am wondering if this may be my issue.

Well, after all, the old gal was thirsty. Not sure why. Tune up complete with new fuel filter added new spark plugs. Cleaned top to bottom and a new PTO belt.

I had some trouble getting her started but after priming the fuel filter and applying a drying agent to the cylinders through the spark plug access, she started and ran well for more the 15 minutes. A bit of sputtering and a few backfires.

I replaced the 60" mower deck and this morning mowed the front lawn. Ran great and probably better than in the past few years. Thats likely because of the new plugs.

Chat with ya all next time.

Have a great day.
