Anyone else hearing rumors that production of the MX5800 (and maybe other MX tractors) has stopped, because it is being replaced by a new model?

I have not.

All such imminent model changes, etc., should be announced tomorrow at the annual dealer's meeting.

I think I heard the meeting is this week - first full week in October apparently. I'd guess we'll get a Messicks video pretty quickly.

There is a MX5400 and MX6000 model coming. The parts and WSM's are available now from Kubota

Any interesting news from the annual meeting? I don't need a new MX model to enter the back of the mind!
Sorry.

The dealer's meeting is the week of 10/07.

Should know sometime this week.

Looks, at first glace, like the same machine with slight tweaks. You can get a cab. The 6000 has the same engine as the 5800, but with slightly more horsepower (the machine weighs exactly the same as the 5800).

Does anyone see any major differences other than the cab option?

I have a 2018 MX4800, and it looks just like my machine with a cab. I guess even the open station models will get a rubber floor mat now, which is nice. Controls appear to be the same. But a cab option is welcome.

Saw the new brochure today, as well as the new LX brochure (replacement for B2650 and B3350) today.

Both cabs and gear transmissions are available for MX tractors.

I find it hard to believe it will be that much cheaper. The MX is a larger machine with a stronger loader. I can see it not having HST Plus to save a little money and maybe no dash message display like the Grand L. I’m thinking $4-5k less.

It appears you can build your own on the Kubota site now for the new MX series. I built a Mx6000 with cab and loader w/ bucket (MSRP = $44,322) and an L6060 with cab and loader w/ bucket (MSRP = $51,624)..........Just over $7000 less, so perhaps the dealer was not far off.

I guess you are right. The MX is a slightly larger tractor than an L6060, and has a slightly more capable loader. The L6060 has a nicer 3-point hitch.

I watched the video of the new cab MX, and its a nice machine. I believe the physical cab itself is exactly the same one found on the Grand L 60 series machines.

I've owned an MX4800 and now an L4060. Here's the interior differences I noticed:

-MX has the old instrument cluster with a digital hour meter but no message center.

-MX has a horn button added to the dash whereas the GL60 has the horn integrated into the steering wheel center pad

-MX has the combination headlight / turn signal / flasher switch on the dash, same as before. GL60 has an automotive-style control stalk off the steering column for these functions

-MX uses the same seat for the cab as previous models, with optional arm rests. GL60 uses a full suspension seat with standard arm rests, 15-degree swivel, reclining backrest, higher back, and glovebox in back of seat.

-MX controls for F/R work lights, HVAC, radio, side mirrors, antenna, wipers, defrost...all identical to GL60.

-MX uses old MX steering wheel; however wheel now tilts.

-MX uses old style controls for 3-point, HST range, etc. GL60 controls are set up higher in the plastic for easier access, and HST range shifter is more like a gear stick.

All in all, some of the GL60's gadgetry is nice and some is unneeded. In my opinion, a cab is a place to be out of the elements and stay cool or warm. The MX accomplishes this exactly as well as the GL60. I really like having a clock in a tractor since I'm in the field a long time. So while the GL does have a clock in the IntelliPanel and the MX does not, most of the radios fitted by the dealer have a clock in the radio (mine does). That takes care of that.

I guess I might miss the HST-Plus transmission. I really like the H-DS flip on the move and the linked treadle pedal.

And I will say that while the new MX cab appears to have the same work lights as the GL60, it also appears to have the old MX's headlights, which are 35W high/low units. The GL60 has 55w/60w low/high headlights same as a car, plus a secondary side light option.
