I was conceived at Fort Hood, Texas.
Or so I was told, I frankly don't remember.

Why is the liquor store on base called class 6?

It's from a supply category system used by the Armed Forces. Class 1 is rations and potable water, Class 2 clothing and equipment, and so on. Class 6 is non-military personal items, such as snacks, personal hygiene items, cigarettes, and ALCOHOL, all of which Class Six stores sell.

1 Delta 10 Tango stuff.

What does that refer to? I did spend a year in south east Asia in 67/68 but must have lead a harbored life...

I have seen the thread for a while but could not relate to it and still can't...

Never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the box...

That's no help to me...Just my own fault...I never fit into the military thing I suppose. Was just trying to avoid the infantry in Vietnam.

Edit: No complaints! The GI bill helped with four years of college...(y)

bahaha I wasn't calling you that, just answering your question what it stood for. 😂

BUT I do not understand what that refers to! Puzzled here...probably something simpler than I am...

OK...maybe I get it now. Learning to read what is not written...a talent I need to develop!

IDIOT? Did I get it?

Edit: If I had understood the initial meaning I could likely have added a lot to this thread!

I’m not smart enough to post the recording here.

When my FIL was at basic at Fort Benning prior to deployment in Army 101 Airborne in 1944, they made 45 rpm records with messages “back home.”

We have the record, but the recording is hardly discernible.

Our SILs at the time were able to digitize it and clean it up so it’s mostly clear.

The message was very much scripted. His parents were both “off the boat” Italians that were not very good at the English language…

Obviously the Army didn’t want someone sending an Italian message since Italy was a German ally
