Like the title, this might be a stupid question but I got to ask because I just don’t know. My L3200 with gear transmission, has a spring loaded pin near the clutch pedal,I know it is a lock of sorts to lock the clutch pedal in the disengaged position, question is what is the purpose of locking the clutch pedal down like that? I’ve seen tractors with a dual stage clutch have a pin or something that slides out to limit pedal travel but this is a single stage clutch, and where the piece on the pedal would engage it is in the disengaged position.

Such a device could be used to prevent the clutch from "freezing together" during long periods of non-operation.

The clutch tolerance on these is very tight and if left with the clutch engaged for a length of time where there is humidity and/or water that gets to the clutch disk, it will rust and stick the clutch plate to the flywheel and pressure plate.

Engaging the clutch and locking it open eliminates this issue. ;)

Glad i asked, thank y’all,it is humid as hell here usually, but the tractor gets used multiple times a week, but very good to know. But would leaving the clutch disengaged for long periods of time be hard on the fingers of the clutch?

The chance of hurting those fingers in the long term is slim.....
the chance of clutch "rusting" to pressure plate is far higher!!!

Most of us have to make a piece of wood to hold the clutch down!:D

How long do y’all leave a tractor sit like that, with the clutch disengaged to worry about rusting?curious just because I acquired my tractor when I bought the house,I thought it was a 2013 model, may be a 2014,previous owner bought it new,and it had 12 hrs on it when I got it in 2017,it sat under the carport where it sits now,guy worked overseas and was gone for months at a time,I know the tractor never moved for the nine months we watched the house before we bought it,Day we signed paper and he surprised us with the tractor and equipment I got to the house, put the key in it and it cranked right up,needed it that night when my super duty sunk in the yard moving a trailer around, haven’t had any issues with it

If it works it works! Doesn't matter how long it set at that point. Just know that there is a possibility of a seizure problem if conditions are just right.

I'd imagine the problem is greater when the tractors are use as they were originally designed for, rice paddies!

On the older models there is also a drain plug in the bottom of the bell housing to let water out (when you get OUT of the rice paddy).

Maybe another stupid question, engine emission tag says it built in 2013,rear wheels have a date tag of August 2014,front wheels have date tag of November 2014,front axle is stamped L3300,previous owner gave me his bill of sale when he bought it but it’s buried in a stack of papers somewhere, was too excited when it all happened to care about the details lol,but any thoughts?tractordata.com shows l3300 last made in 1999,mine appears to be all original, and he bought the extended warranty on it so I’m assuming it hasn’t been messed with, and it had 12 hours, only thing he told me happened was it got buried to the floorboard,I seen where he buried it,I’ve had it buried that deep too and was able to use the fel to push it out

Very common for them to use the molds for the cast front end across several models.
For example my L3450 has a front end with the casting saying it's a L3650.

So in other words it doesn't mean anything. ;)

Got another question while I’m at it,I’ve been waiting for two weeks on a quote from two dealers on a bx23s.i don’t have time to make the drive to the dealership to do it in person, but after reading around the forum my super duty may be better suited for the job,it has suspension,4wd,heat and a/c,comfy seat, room for wife kids and the dog,so does anyone know where I can get a FEL and back hoe for my truck

good one!

Awesome question but you left out the part about a PTO as well. Maybe start your own thread on it or should we combine it into a ford/subaru thread?

I thought about the rear pto, imagine the bat wing mower I could pull with it! I’d have my mowing done in no time, truck was around 300 horsepower and 550 ft pounds of torque when it was stock, slightly more with the mods lol,20 ft bat wing out the question?
