OK I live in So Indiana i just bought a 2012 M59 form So TN. I knew it wasnt perfect. I have a reprint service manual.
Quest 1 The relay for my glow plugs is not being energized. According to the wsm the ECU checks the eng temp then tells the display to power on the glow plugs for a varied amount of time. If i unplug the display and power the wire to the realy everything down stream works as it should. Is there a way for a guy without a kubota scan tool to figure out where the failure is? the diagrams do not show a glow plug ''in'' wire to the display only bus communication lines. I can easily wire up a switch if i need to get glow plugs working is there a set time plugs should be powered up everytime or a do not exceed time? 5 seconds 10? 20? I believe Ive seen timed relays for this idea.
Quest 2 there was a missing 5amp fuse labelled key stop. If i install a fuse the tractor doesnt power off at key off. Whats the deal here?
Quest 3 I tried to start the tractor with the hydraulic valves not in the correct spots for having backhoe un-hosed and a little service indicator popped up on display once i sorted the valving so it wasnt dead heading the hydro it starts and runs normally. Easy way to clear the message?
Bonus Question easiest to install block heater thats worth doing/having? seen the freeze plug style and the in the rad hose style? Advice?
Thanks in advance for any help

You can't check the ECM without the computer.
But check everything else first.
The glow plug circuit gets it's info from the temp sending unit so read the WSM and find out how to test that.
There is also 2 Relays that control the glow plugs so check both.

Have you tested the stop solenoid and the relay that controls it?

You can try disconnecting the battery to reset the computer.

Block heater all the way!

My 2013-14 M59 ignition switch is getting twitchy on making good contact. On list to replace.

I've never had a service indicator light pop up for the hydraulic system getting dead headed for the diverter valves, the engine just lugs. I suspect you have another problem being indicated.

I was not pressing the clutch as it had not been necessary before. Lots of smoke and almost starting. I thought my son flooded it so we kept trying to clear that.

I did think last night the glow indicator does come on for an expected amount of time. Just no power out on the relay control. To my mind that says likely inside this "display". The WSM does not show a second relay in glow system. Am I missing something or maybe it's named something not easily recognizeable?

You can't "flood" a diesel. ;)

Not pressing the clutch? You lost me. You need to depress the clutch to start the engine. If not someone has been rewiring things.

Do you have a copy of the WSM?

This is my first diesel. 20yr in auto repair but no diesel experience. I'm learning!
Diesels are easier than gas! No ignition to worry about! You only need compression, air and fuel for it to run.

Since you are in Indiana you might be in the cold. A diesel is difficult to start without the glow plugs.

But I am confused if you are having trouble starting it or not…you say something about the hydraulics and some code and smoke but not a clear (to me) statement of the current situation or what is needed. I think you may want to consider asking for specific help on on problem at a time. The thread seems to have answered some of the questions but then drifted off course to answer them all.

Good luck
