L5030 HST Tires

Hi Guys. I am brand new to this forum, although I have been around tractors and equipment most of my life.

I just acquired a 2005 L5030 HST with cab. The tires are pretty much shot, so I am looking to buy all new tires.

Looking at the specs in the on-line owner's manual, the tractor should have:
Front - 9.50-16 and Rear - 14.9-26.

But my tractor has:
Front - 10-16.5 and Rear - 17.5L-24.

I didn't see any mention of axle gear ratios for the L5030 anywhere to allow me to figure out my own tire sizes. Anybody have suggestions for finding either the gear ratios, or the proper tire size and/or rolling circumferences for the L5030?

I've read through most of the tire related threads on this site and I realize the importance of figuring the rolling circumference, especially when I am thinking of all new tires and a different tread. (I really like the looks of the Alliance 550 Multi use radials and if anyone has comments about that brand, I will welcome those comments)

Sounds like you have the R4 tires on it the other tire size you mentioned are the R1 tires they are on different rims so the size is different to keep the ratio good between the front and rear.

Ah, yes, it does have the R4 tires. So, maybe the Kubota manual offers specs for the R1?

Let my check my manual. You probably have one of the optional sizes, R4 vs R1.

Yup, as stated above, it’s the R4 (industrial) version vs R1 (farm) version. Here’s some photos from my L30 series manual. I included the ballast weight chart too incase that’s helpful.

Yes you have Industrial R4 tires, do you want to keep them or do you want to go with AG R1 tires?
If your looking to change types of tires you'll need different rims.

Thank you. The owner's manual that I found on-line has some of the pages you show, but it did not have the optional tires for the L5030. This is very helpful.

Yes you have Industrial R4 tires, do you want to keep them or do you want to go with AG R1 tires?

Thank you. I don't want the ag tires. I am interested in something that does not destroy the grass. I have been looking at something like an R14T, or the Alliance 550 Multi use radials. I like how they look and I would assume they have more traction than plain turf tires. I have read that they do not tear up the grass, but I have not talked to anyone who has actually used them.

Just be aware that R14s are not a substitute for situations where an R1 is needed. Such as a wet pasture. I have one tractor (two I guess, including the old 8N) with R1s and one with R14s. The R14s work for 90% of my intended use, but they load up easily with moist soil if on a grade and then they are pretty limited. They are low impact on tuff, relatively speaking.

Your gear ratio should be 1.56, per the listing for a DT, not a HST. You can search the site for 'database' to see the tables posted.

You are welcome. If the turf tires are working for you presently, R3 I believe, then you will likely be well served with the R14 tread as well, plus a bit of extra traction.

Thank you. I had seen this data on here and I didn't understand the gear ratio. I was thinking the ratio listed was only for the rear axle and not the ratio between the two axles. After reading all the posts I found, it makes a lot more sense now. I appreciate it.

An added note to your info - I have learned that 'DT' means Dual Traction, a.k.a. four wheel drive. This covers both the L5030 GST and HST.
