I push the clutch in and move my PTO lever to run and slowly release clutch and pto spins up. However when I finish mowing the lever is returned to stop with clutch in and on clutch release the pto starts to engage. I can fiddle with it and wiggle it, and eventually can get it to not engage. Then when I put the brake on and try to get off the tractor stops and won't start again unless I hold PTO switch against contact. Anyway to tighten this or adjust this to work properly? Safety issue!

There’s a section in the WSM that covers the adjustment, but also make sure there isn’t a bunch of debris interfering with the spring action at the other end of the PTO lever. I have to blow mine out from time to time.

This kit will fix you right up, it removes the coil spring from around the shaft and replaces it with a stronger return spring that connects to the bottom of the control shaft lever.

squirt some lube on the spring. Drench it. WD40, doesn't matter. Then work the lever back & forth a few times with the engine OFF. It should free right up.

That update kits looks nice, just hoping there’s a way to get it done without taking both rear tires off.

I’ll keep cleaning out debris around the spring and keep it oiled up until that doesn’t work anymore.
