What is the correct procedure to check the hydraulic fluid in a L3450

Level ground? Machine running at idle? Machine off?

I look down the fill hole and shake the tractor. If I can just see it, there is enough. Sight glass is useless unless I'm parked on a slope. It can't really be too critical because the level changes all the time, eg. loader all the way up/down.
Bottom line is I don't know but I hope NIW shows up with a definitive answer

With the loader bucket down and the backhoe in the travel position you should be able to see it in the sight glass if you can you're good to go. ;)

Yea on an L3450 just level and not running is fine for checking the level.

Dye in the fluid helps a ton on these sight glass units.

You know the sight glass is at your left heel, above the floor boards right. :D
