Hello,
I am looking at a Kubota L3350 with a FEL that I have driven past for a few years parked beside a garage. I dropped a note in the mailbox at the address that I was interested in buying it.

The owner texted me that the machine will pull itself in the low gears but not in the higher gears and that $5000 is the price as it sets. He thinks it is an L35.

It is obvious that it has sat for a few years outside.

When I try to match up pictures of what is sitting there with an L35 they do not look like each other. To me this looks like an L3350 by the grille and headlights.

My questions are:
Is $5000 reasonable assuming it runs?
My thinking that this is most likely a worn clutch, is that a valid assumption?

I have split a couple of old tractors and have replaced clutch assemblies so I am not too afraid of that procedure.

Any input is appreciated,
Thank you

Welcome!
With a lot of unknowns, my opinion is that $5000 is too high. Sitting out in the weather like that, it has to be suffering other issues. If it were worth that, and in running condition, why did he abandon it to the elements?

The L35 is a Kubota TLB.

The L3350 looks to be a standard tractor offering.

You can get the L35 without a backhoe I believe...well you can certainly get the newest TLBs with no backhoe (B26, L47, M62) but that kind of defeated the purpose of the B in TLB!

The TLBs are build for construction/landscaping tasks so they typically weight more and have greater lift capacities than the standard L series tractors. It would be important to find out which this is.

Unfortunately tractorhouse has none of these or previous/next models on either side of it. I don***8217;t have a good estimate. I would definitely test it thoroughly.

I agree with Hodge, too high. The loader is worth something, esp. if you need it for another tractor, or know someone who does. Does the tractor start and run? Doubtful, since it's been unused for so long.

If you want a tractor to fix and use, it is worth more than if you're fixing because you want a project.

I'd be thinking about 1/2 of what the guy said he wanted for it.

I bought an L3250 two years ago that ran (with an engine knock), no loader, body panels in bad shape or missing. Ended up selling it to a parts yard for $1400 after I took the engine apart and found the crankshaft galded beyond repair.

Proceed with cautious optimism!

$5K is on the high side for a L3350, a L35 that would be a bargain!

I would lean more into the $3K to $4k range.

Do you actually know the number or are you guessing, because there are a lot of other models that have that same grill design, like my L3450 GST and that's worth every bit of 10K as is.

D2Cat;
I must admit; I am looking at this for a project tractor for the winter. I like working on neglected tractors and bringing them back to life.

The seller just got back with me. It’s an L3350 after he looked at it. I’m thinking he bought it not working and parked it since he didn’t know the model.

Seller says he ran it this spring to push some things around in the yard.
I still think $5k is high but would hate to low ball him. I’m not a very good wheeler dealer.

Get a few pictures and post them up. Gives us a better idea of what you're seeing.

Besides, take your time. The slower you are after you get all the information you need, the better he will deal. He now knows someone has some interest in something that has been an eye sore for a while. He'll meditate on it, and come down some just to get it gone!

It may be worth asking if he minds if you stop in to take a closer look and give it a good look over. If he says ok then he is hiding nothing if he says no then buyer beware.

Like mentioned take pics if he allows a closer look, much knowledge here to help you make your mind up.

Good luck

If the engine runs fine and the price is right, the hours do not matter! Maintenance is more important than hours. With good maintenance you may go 5,000 - 15,000 hours (and up) on a diesel engine.

I've got 5200 hrs on an Onan 2 cyl gas engine!!

I started a thread, “How many hours on your tractor”, in the “Service, Repair, & Maintenance” section. I just bumped it to the top. You can see how many hours are on some of these machines and how little it took to get them there.
