Greetings All,
I'm looking at buying a used Kubota L2501. Here‘s what I know about:
2017
HST
FEL
Loader bucket has after market teeth on it
3rd function hydraulic for the FEL
Kubota BH 77 back hoe w/frame mount
fluid filled rear tires with industrial tread
tire chains for all 4 tires
all the wheels are spaced out 2”
comes with a rear blade
420hrs

It looks like a clean rig, normal wear and tear. The guy selling it is asking $35,000. Is that a fair price? The seller is motivated to sell, so I'm pretty sure I have some wiggle room. I’m up in AK and there aren't alot of tractors in my area. Thoughts?

Seems really high to me? I'm new to the tractor market. I just got everything you listed except the backhoe and rear blade for $24,000 brand new with 84months zero interest 2 months ago!

Goodluck with your search

That sounds like a unit that's had hard use. Not that that's bad, but the attachments and spacers and chains say to me someone who knew what they were doing and wanted to use it to its limits.

I'd say you'd pay new price less 20-30% for that (I'd be a bit more at the 30% end given I reckon it's been used pretty hard). But there's a lot of attachments in that setup, so it'll be worth more than what BigFoot paid - particularly the backhoe, but spacers and chains cost too. 3rd function worth a bit.

Questions to ask:
- does it have rear remotes? Top and tilt on the blade is worth a bit.
- what did he use the 3rd function for - is there a grapple with it? That's worth a bit
- after market teeth = piranha bar? Not that it matters, but they're popular

Price seems really high. A 2501 with loader and backhoe new on the Kubota website comes in right at $30,000.

I sold a 2019 for 13,500 just the tractor as you mentioned without the 3rd function with 400 hours. Fluid tires r4 tires as well. Just bought a l4060le hstc with loaded r4 and la805 loader for 32k

That is overpriced. You can get that whole setup NEW for less then he’s asking. I would pass, buy new, finance at 0%, use Kubota’s money and keep the 30k in your bank. Monthly payment on that would be like $360 over 84mo. With inflation ramping up... that setup will be 40k next year IMO

Seems high to me. I paid $25k out the door for mine with 0% interest. That included fluid filled R4s, loader, rear blade, rotary cutter and pallet forks. It had .3 hrs on it when I got it delivered.

I agree with the others. I priced that same tractor out last fall with the backhoe and loader, but without the third function and it came in around 30 K. With zero percent financing I think.

As mentioned above, wheel spacers on all four wheels and chains for all four wheels? Aside from being over priced, chains on all four wheels and spacers on all four wheels would raise a flag in my mind no doubt, even if the price was where it should be, which is somewhere below 30 K. How much below I’m not sure…

I was think that same thing about the front spacers. I’ve never heard anything good come from front spacers.

I ordered a new L2501 in February.

+L2501
+BH77 backhoe
+Third function
+Landpride grapple
+R1 tires (same cost for R4)
+Landpride snowpusher
+Landpride forks
+Landpride quick attach bucket

0% interest, no money down

Got it in early April. $36 k

So, yeah... I think that 35k is high. They will probably get it though. There are waiting times for everything right now, so if you order one it might not get there before end of the busy season. That 35k tractor will sell because someone needs to work it now, before the freeze sets. Right now inventory of other equivalent new products maybe non-existent.

Whatever you do, do it quick if you want it before winter.

My most recent quote:

2501 4wd hst
Loader
3rd function
Two rear float remotes
Pallet forks
Rimguard
Grapple

24K exluding tax and KTAC. Need to be careful with other people's quotes because they dont specify if they include KTAC or tax. KTAC is 2-3k.

That kind of used deal is what drove me to go new after 7 months of hard looking (it is super crazy now).

My L2501 HST TLB w/ 3fx was just under $30K & delivered 25d ago. W/ Financing, warranty, and no question of abuse... Check the details on adding your tax & KTAC though per above to get apples to apples comparison.

I would have been very happy to buy used as there are a fair number of nice low hour, lightly used units out there, but I found them to be 90 - 100% of new cost. No way I was doing that so I bit the bullet on tax & KTAC as a trade-off.

Since you are in Alaska, that might not actually be such a bad price compared to the lower 48.

One down the street from me, Victor MT, sold for $23,500. It was a 2018 L2501 with about 20 hours on it also had the BH77 attached. As a side, the person who bought it immediately listed it for $27K where it sat on C-list for awhile. I tried to find the second sellers ad, but its either sold or the ad expired.
