Have a Zeh Noh ZL2000FD, which I told equates to the Kubota L225D.

Problem is, the engine is blowing oil in a big way. The engine is a DH1100 with low hours, under 100 hours. The oil is blowing from a tube on the right side of engine. Any things I can check or repair?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can take it apart and fix whatever is wrong with the piston, rings and cylinder seal. seeing your tractor is a Zen-Oh , I wouldn't believe the hourmeter reading at all! I'd bet it has many more hours than 100! We just had one of those through our shop this week (l2000dt) which was only showing 115 hrs and was sold to the customer as being true hours. Oh Yea! maybe 4000 hrs but not 115! amazing how "new" they can look with a new coat of RED ?? paint, new tires and a new seat. It's "buyer aware" when you buy a used tractor and especially if it is a grey market one. They ARE good tractors, but make sure you're not getting a "painted up old dandy". Had another experiance with a Zen-Oh last winter which was a Yanmar. Customer brought it in banging away, we found it had a broken rocker shaft and was blowing water from the cooling system. When I took it apart I found the block warped about 1 mm. How could the gasket seal on that? we had the customer take it back to the dealer who sold it to him. it was supposed to be "about 2 years old" as well and had really low hours. Both these tractors came from the same crooked dealer in Saskatchewan. I'm not saying don't buy grey, just be extra vigilant when any used tractor is all painted up fresh looks to good to be true!

would you happen to know of a source for a service manual that can walk me through the repairs? Any specific things to look for? Like I said, the oil is blowing out of a tube on the right side of the tractor.

Thanks

The oil is coming from the engine breather tube.It can only be caused by a failure of the rings. a piston ring might have broken or they could be worn out.In either case you are looking at a complete engine overhaul.

It IS engine oil for sure? The hydraulic pump is on the right side of the engine too and it could spring a leak and loose lots of oil.

Vic wrote "Here's something to simple to check: Have you pulled the dipstick to see if the oil in the crankcase is way over full, like 4 qts over full?"

Yea, that would do it wouldn't it? Sometimes we look for complicated answers where a simple one would be much better! LOL

Just a thought could it be sludge buildup not letting the oil drain from the valve train back to the oil pan? May want to pull the valve cover and have a look and see if there is a lot of sludge.
Maybe rebuild time.

pulled the valve cover yesterday, no sludge. No dipstick on this engine, so cannot check that. Pulled the breather tube assembly and checked the screens, no clog.

Can someone give me an estimate of parts needed to overhaul the engine? I am guessing rings, pistons...anything I am missing?

Thanks for all of your help.

PS.. would it be cheaper just to replace the tractor or repair?

If you are not sure how much oil is in your tractor drain it into a pan and see how much is in it.
I have seen some threads that were talking about rebuilds where the owners were doing all the labor themselves and it being around 1,300 for parts and machining the block.
You will have to decide what your tractor is worth to you.
I bet Vic could tell you closer on the price of parts
