Give that girl a bath to start with!

I was having a hey of a time starting my girl and a good pressure wash, new battery and some tape over the rubbed through wires kept her going.

This winter is a rewire, it will be a hey of a lot easier to do so cause she doesn't look like a dirty girl?
She normally gets the dust blown off her with the compressor, however I couldn't drive it to the compressor last time I was there. Bathing a tractor on a limited water supply in the middle of a drought will rank a low priority although understand the dust is not great for them in the long run.

Jump started Wally on the weekend with some very heavy duty cables and replaced the earth strap, cleaned up the starter cable and connections on the solenoid and brush lead to the starter, also removed the leads to the glow plugs and cleaned them all up with Contact cleaner and a wire brush where accessible and he had a new lease on life. Fired stone cold in the morning with just a hit of the GPs.

Thanks for the info folks.

FWIW the earth lead is 60cm (2 feet) and the positive lead is 78cm

Its always interesting to learn of obstacles others encounter in other parts of the world! Washing a tractor would not be priority in a drought!

Glad you got er up and running. My buddy and I had a laugh the other day frustrated over 35 year old wires that had been exposed to the elements. Go figure it needs some attention?

My L1501 has always started decent. Til last week when ut would hardly turn over. Boost wouldnt help. Neither did a charger and oil pan heater for a couple hours.
Changed battery and its back to starting good.
Battery was good last time i used it, cant assume its still good.

Glad you solved your issue.

You can keep the -40

Trouble with the +40c here is it usually includes a humidity reading near enough to liquid air :D 80%+ Humidiity is not uncommon.

Madhun, as long as we are talking about walking up hill barefoot to school, are you near the ginger factory? I have a whole bunch of relatives in the general vicinity in Qld.

I'd hate to walk to the Ginger Factory but it's not that far to drive, probably about 20 minutes at highway speed (100kph)

Are you from Qld originally or did they emigrate out this way?

I was born in the US but parents from AU. Dad born in Townsville, 9 sibs, and they spread out from there. He moved back for about 10 years when he retired, and I visited him once and we went to the ginger factory as a touristy thing to do, and I'd get a package of ginger jam etc for Xmas occasionally. I almost took a job in Sydney 35 years ago, but a long way to move the horse and the sheep..chickened out.
